[SWTOR] Best in PVP

Who do you think are the best classes/specs in pvp right now? Also who do you think is the worst class for pvp atm?

PvP is difficult to gauge for the following reason:

Level 50 is different than 10 to 49
World PvP is different than Warzones
Lack Centurion / Champion / Battlemaster Gear makes a huge difference
All Warzones are very objective based

Just ignoring that shit you could make an argument that any class with a knock back is broken. Any class that can take advantage of environmental hazards is overpowered. Any class with stealth is imbalanced.

Snide remarks aside, it depends on if you're talking about World PvP or Warzones. If it is World PvP then it is going to be Stealth based classes. Ganking is easier, escapes are there, and most have a retarded amount of burst on their opener that makes a 1v1 fight almost always going in their favor.

If you're talking Warzones classes with knock backs and the ability to either jump to an ally or an enemy (Slutball I'm looking at you) are the best. Period. Your goal is to get the ball to the end zone, to cap the node, to plant the bomb. On the other two a strong 1v2 class with Stealth can accomplish the latter two but anyone can if the team is worth a shit.

from my own experiences (shadow tank), ranged seems to be the top dogs right now. I dont have enough gap closers and ranged abilities at level 24 to handle casters. Feels like my WoW warrior all over again :P

Sorry i was talking warzones more than world pvp however any input on either is great.

So far iv seen an abundant amount of Sith Assassins, Sith Warriors and Sith Scorcerers (and republics counterparts) in warzones however iv seen barely any IA's and bh's at all. Not sure if this was was an obvious indication that these were the best for warzones or that not alot of ppl are playing non force using classes at the moment.

If you want to know what I see in Warzones, that I can easily give you in order of popularity:

Republic & Sith

Sage & Sorcerer
Shadow & Assassins
Sentinel & Marauder
Guardian & Juggernaut
Troopers & Bounty Hunters (generally Power Tech / Commando)
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Imperial Sniper
.
.
.
.
.
.
Gunslinger

.
Imperial Operative
.
.
.
.
.

.
.
Scoundrel

Seriously, I've seen two Scoundrels, not counting myself, in I don't know how many fucking Warzones.

Edit:

I get actual "cheers" when the Republic sees me pop into a Warzone because I swear to god I must be the only fucking Scoundrel that PvPs on our server. My name is as notorious in the PvP scene as Myles cock ass is for being an overgeared piece of shit.

With all the subclasses, its hard for me to recognize who is playing what, other than the obvious sorcerer/sage, knight/warrior.

if i see a bounty hunter in PvP, couldnt tell you what subclass he is.

Jedi Shadow is what I have been playing. As a level 11-14 in a warzone, you would think that because I have so few abilites and such horrible horrible gear I would be doing really poorly. I think all I have are some pants, a lightsaber, a cloak and boots? Maybe gloves...

Well, I am consistently in the middle of the pack, and always the lowest level player in Warzones. My shadowstrikes hit for 2500-3500 damage at times.

I have a DOT that rocks, an instant 10m ranged attack that hits for 1500 and I can stealth? Winning!

Now imagine that, but pretend your shadow strike is a shotgun that can will hit for an average of 4,500, going as high as 6,900 with the damage bonus, apply a dot that will deal about another 1,500 to 2,000 damage over six seconds, and follow it up with another "back stab" that will average about 2,500 to 3,000.

Congrats, you're now level 50, a Scoundrel, and wearing Champion or better gear.

They did a decent job in making lower levels not feel totally worthless but I can tell you right now you'll get eaten alive by any 50 and you'll get stomped so hard your head will explode if they're in champion gear.

That above combo would probably be enough to kill you before you come out of the stun from Shoot First. Champion / Battlemaster gear makes PvP broken and imbalanced as shit.

Im kind of delaying my push to 50 because i want to have max commendations ready to go. Im not going to grind all my shit at level 50, while everyone else got to feed off lowbies.

ada, think i finally put 2 and 2 together on how sage/sorc is so strong: expertise. Totally forgot theres a stat that gives you a straight pvp boost.
That, and stacking some surge rating, is how they are likely 2 shotting people.

Is there a reason SWTOR decided to go with all level warzones over wow's breakdown of bgs by every 10 levels or is this done because there arent enough ppl playing the game yet so they needed a way for quick queue times? At least they give out buffs but as Adalicia already stated seems pointless and incredibly unfair for a level 20 to try to take on a level 50. I liked wow's system better where you were gonna battle ppl your own level.

Well, I am not too concerned about it really, mainly because D3 will be taking my time, and I dont really like the game. I dnot get a warm and fuzzy when I play it like I did with WoW or the first Modern Warfare.

remember hitting that new level bracket in wow, and getting totally owned?
Thats what it would be like without the level buff.
You have a better chance at level 10 vs a level 50 in SW, than you did as a level 50 vs a level 59, in wow.

Queue times are already really long for empire, if they bracketed it every 10 levels, most people wouldnt bother.

Oh I could have told you it was Expertise.

Pre level 50 and without Champion / Battlemaster Gear the highest amount of expertise you can get on any one piece is 21 points, or about .6% Expertise and that is only on the level 42 PvP weapon. I believe the level 46 one has a bit more but not much. So unless you're farming Warzone Commendations and pulling the mod out and putting it in other shit (very inefficient as they're 330 commendations) you're going to have sub 1% of Expertise.

In comparison, one piece of Champion gear has about 1.2% of Expertise on it and pretty much every piece does. Start factoring in other stats on top of that and you're looking at an extreme advantage. A massive one in fact.

Now then, I agree with waiting until 50 but I don't. I'm currently level 49, been doing the entire level via Warzones just so I can absolutely make sure I have enough commendations to get five champion bags when I do level, but I'm starting to consider pushing it over and trying to get my gear as quickly as I can because going into a 50 only bracket with other 50's that have been abusing the system and are all stacked in Battlemaster / Champion gear already ain't gonna be much better.

Yeah but in WoW at least you get to be "king of the hill" every 10 levels (which at lower levels is not time consuming to grind). When leveling in WoW I often PVE'd levels 0-7 (i.e. 10-17, 20-27, 30-37, etc) and PVP'd levels 8-9 (i.e. 18-19, 28-29, 38-39). It made for a nice break from questing.

That being said, I havent tried SWTOR PVP yet, so maybe their system does work better... I can certainly imagine the joy in being able to kill another player that's 20 levels higher than me, buff or not.

So, some research has told me the following:

1.) Scoundrels / Operatives are over powered.
2.) Sages / Sorcerers are over powered.
3.) Sentinels / Marauders are over powered.
4.) Commandos / Mercenaries are over powered.

Now then:

1.) No they aren't.
2.) No they aren't.
3.) No they aren't.
4.) No they aren't.

I swear to god the PvP QQ machine is in high gear because now every where level 22's are getting rolled by 50's of every class in Champion / Battlemaster gear so they obviously assume the class that rolled them is broken.

Seriously:

1.) Burst and then worthless. Must have power up.
2.) Can be locked down. Should be focus fired.
3.) Retardedly high skill cap, player must have a metric fuck ton of skill to be good.
4.) Sustained damage but can be rolled as easily as anyone else.

Look at that? I also find it humorous when some dude is trying to say that despite he is in full Champion gear he got hit for 10.3K from a Scoundrel's Shoot First.

Bull. Fucking. Shit. Even with Battlemaster gear, the power up, and popping the Expertise consumable with an insane critical strike it'd literally be impossible, especially against someone else with Champion gear.

So anyway, your mileage may vary but don't buy into "class is OP" but rather take into consideration:

Your Level
Their Level
Your Gear
Their Gear
What Class They Are
What Mechanics They Have
How to Counter Them

I bitch a lot about Sorcerers, but that is because they have a large amount of sustained damage and so many different ways to keep me at distance. Do I think they're imbalanced? Probably not all things considered, level and gear make a huge difference. Can I kill one if I get the drop on them? Yep. Can I if I don't? Probably not.

Welcome to PvP.

Given the general lag, ability lag, major FPS drop in pvp, and unoptimized graphics engine... any ranged class in open pvp.

Melee is whoever gets the first shot in wins.

Also fuck sages. Stupid overpowered asshole bubble...

really, complaining about static barrier? 20 second cooldown(for all intents), that absorbs maybe 1000-1500 damage. And we dont even know if the ability scales with anything, sure dosent seem like it does.

If anything, i would expect people to complain about all the procs that allow us to dump huge amounts of damage on someone.

The Barrier, in my experience, certainly absorbs more than 1,500 damage.

I've had that dumb Barrier completely negate an entire Shoot First, which should be between 3,500 and 4,500 damage.

Also, why do Shadow / Assassins (at least I assume Assassins) get a fucking Cloak of Skill type ability that wipes DoTs but Scoundrel players do not.

Is it because we have Triage? If so that is fucking dumb considering you have to be deep into Sawbones for it to cleanse everything, and it'll break Stealth if you use it while stealthed...
