| New e-mail look... I dunno if google did this or you folks did but I hate the new look. Sorry it is just too bright. Too much use of white space. I liked the old blue/grey design much better. Is there a way to change it back? I couldn't find one. |

kudos:11 | The new look is being rolled out automatically to all users, but you should be able to choose the option "Revert to the old look temporarily" after clicking on the Settings gear icon in the upper right. That will bring back the more familiar layout. |

kudos:11 | I prefer the old look too, but Google itself is forcing the change. If you click on the "Revert to the old look temporarily" link, the confirmation window that pops up has a "Tell us why" link for feedback; you should use that to point out that you prefer the old look. |

I've been using the new look for about a month. I actually like the new look and some of it's features (scrolling inbox for example). Give it a chance, It'll probably grow on you.
Like you, I didn't like the amount of screen real-estate that the main folder listing used. That can be corrected by clicking on the setting's "gear" icon, then selecting the "compact" option.
Regarding the overly bright interface. I suspect that custom color themes will probably be available soon. They already are available on GMail and Google apps accounts so it's probably just a matter of time before they are adopted system wide.
If you have any feedback for Google, you can supply it by clicking on the gear icon, selecting revert to the old look temporarily, then clicking on the "Tell us why" link. |
