 | First Showtime and now Disney WOW did not participate in the Showtime Free Preview weekend and now it seems they are not involved with the Disney Family Movies free preview. I'm pretty sure they don't even offer this Disney Family Movie On Demand channel.

WOW needs to get with the big boys when it comes to things like this. I don't see how they can expect to be a major player if they don't. |

| To be honest, although I have had issues lately, I would rather be with a small service oriented provider, than a big national one with data caps, more expensive equipment rental fees, horrible support, etc... If that means missing a free weekend I am fine. Showtime is not new, if I wanted it, I would have ordered it a long time ago. |

 | Hmmm
"If it wasn't for lack of competition, I would have left months ago. They continue to get worse."
Doesn't seem like you're too happy with WOW. Or maybe today you are.
Showtime and others provide the preview weekends free of charge to cable providers. I see no reason why WOW can't pass it along. |

| Supervisors were here for hours yesterday, my issues seem resolved and I edited my review, too bad you got that quote from my review when I was having issues. I was unhappy with tech support issues, as a company though they are still good. As an example, how long would you have to fight time warner to get a personal call from the CEO's office about intermittent issues. They would rather you leave than keep complaining if it will escalate that high.
Comcast would ban after the first month with their crazy data caps. 250 gigs a month? I use 150-200gb a month just from netflix/hulu HD streaming. One person using internet, that may be fine. But a household using enough bandwidth that a 15mbps connection isn't good enough, can't deal with any of the "big" providers.
Again, I had issues with wow. I was furious at some of it during it. But looking back at the situation as it is ending. It was amazing how easy it was to get in touch with both the CEO's office, and the VP of Cleveland. No other provider has that much accesabiity to get an issue escalated.
Some of the techs I had sucked, yes. But as a whole company, they really seemed to care and work with me once a supervisor got involved. |

I know it's not a popular opinion here but to use that much bandwith seems excessive. And the exact reason caps are put in place.

Glad it worked out for you. Many others go the only route they know, calling Customer Service. Maybe they get resolution, maybe not.
Getting back to topic, this thread is about the free previews that WOW does not participate in. As I said, they are free to WOW so I don't see why they can't pass them along to their customers. |

[/BQUOTE :The amount of data that a person uses is irrelevant. Running a download 24/7 is not going to use up bits, it just ties up up bandwidth that some accountant assumes would not be used. The ISP is not producing the bits, they may pay biased on CDN but they usually have agreements to cover this. Otherwise there is no reason to cap other then greed. -- no .sig found, please restart your browser. |

 | The only reason I stick with WOW is because they provide uncapped internet. Comcast's 250gb bandwidth cap is completely out of touch with reality in 2012 with HD video streaming, etc. |

| It's a matter of time, W.O.W. will jump on the cap bandwagon. If someone is being truly excessive I am sure they will say something about it, since it is in their ToS. -- Moe, I need your advice

 | I doubt it. What would be the purpose of having 30 Mbps or 50 Mbps internet with a bandwidth cap? |

| I am really unsure why ISPs hop on the bandwagon one after another but the usual speculation is to protect its TV revenue. At those speeds you can torrent/usenet your favorite shows in little time. Other could be network management.
I'm just saying, expect it, and nowhere to turn for cap-free residential service. First Suddenlink started out as adding a monitor, then instituted caps. I download anime like crazy, Hulu, Netflix, in a multi-person household and managed to stay around 100GB.
I hate to read about ISPs being super strict though, you go one byte over the cap and they ban you for life or something. -- Moe, I need your advice

bsipe9 join:2007-03-24 Berea, OH 1 edit | reply to xiaNaix In one post you say Comcast's 250GB limit is ridiculous. In the next, you suggest that it would be unfathomable for WoW to have a cap when they offer 30 and 50 Mbps internet. How do you explain Comcast offering 30, 50 and even 105 Mbps internet with a cap? (Interestingly, if you had a maxed out 105 Mbps connection you'd reach the monthly cap in under 6 hours.)
Seems to me that caps exist not so much because of the abuse of bandwidth, but because large cable companies feel (correctly?) that high downloads equate to them losing $ on cable TV income. I know more than a few people that no longer even have TV service and use Netflix etc to supply all their watching needs. I'm guessing Comcast and others don't much care for that behavior. |

@wideopenwest.com Huh? I have WOW and questioned why we don't get free previews. I post quite often. I don't think that satisfies the definition of troll.
However, you don't have WOW yet come to it's forum to post. Hello pot, meet Mr. Black. |

Back on topic, I hope wow decides not to cap, and market it as what makes them better. At the absolute worst, I turely can understand a little bit of throtteling during peak usage times, if and only if, network perforamce starts to suffer because of it. But an actual limit. For instance, most of my internet usage is between 10pm and 2am, using my full bandwidth at off peak times doesn't hurt anyone.
I do not look forward to the day when internet prices are not based on speed, but instead how high your cap is. |
