Anyway, I have an old canon video camera that is about 9 years old, still uses magnetic tape.
It's time to upgrade as the battery is not holding a charge and I'm tired of manually importing the tape contents via firewire cable into my pc. This is not always a smooth process since it isn't digital.
I'm looking for a new video camera, something modern that won't break the bank. Something that is HD. Maybe even water proof if possible.
Today, I do have a video camera on my cell phone but the quality is not that good.
Like to hear your thoughts. Also, I might like to start considering tinkering with video editting if you have any recommendations.
Thanks. |

 | What resolution do you want? 720p? 1080i? 1080p? 1080p/60p? The Samsung on this page is under $200 but it won't get you 1080p/60p. -- Wacky Races 2012! |

| Best? In what respect and price range? The other day I was looking at camcorders with 4 and 5 digit price tags...
I think 1080p 60p camcorders (which I would consider reasonably good) starts around $500 or so, and those with 3 sensors are in the vicinity of $1k.
While gopros have the resolution and fps at a much lower price, they usually have no zoom and are missing many features that are not needed for a helmet cam, but either a must, or very nice to have for a real camcorder. -- Wacky Races 2012! |
