 | Small Business Router with multiple (secondary) WAN IPs I am trying to find a relatively affordable router that could assign secondary IP addresses to a single WAN port like a Cisco can.
For example:
interface Ethernet0 description 65.xxx.xxx.38 primary for conf link - 65.xxx.xxx.250 for opentable ip address 65.xxx.xxx.250 255.255.255.252 secondary ip address 65.xxx.xxx.38 255.255.255.252 ip access-group 121 out ip nat outside half-duplex
Is there any routers in the $400 range that can do this?
I told this guy that he might have to drop $2k on a Cisco router in order to do this and watched his eyes poped out of his sockets. |

 | Which model in particular AlexNYC? If he doesn't have that fast a pipe, an old 17xx / 26xx off eBay could do this command for a few hundred, if that.

 | reply to HELLFIRE The dsl is above 10 Meg so, it must be 100 at the wan port even at half duplex. |

1 edit | USG100 or USG200 should handle that easily, check the spec on page 5 »ftp://ftp.zyxel.com/ZYWALL_USG_200/dat···00_7.pdf
All ports are gigabit, throughput speeds are in the PDF. |

Else if you have a server laying around you can download the Vyatta OS community edition, install 2 or more NICs and configure it that way.
I have 2 Vyatta, one free community edition and other a paid appliance and they work pretty good. The community edition i was able to have 2 NICs for WAN connections and the other 2 NICs for LAN connections to switches, etc.
We liked it so much we decided to purchase another one. |

 | reply to AlexNYC +1 on the ZyWALL recommendation: I have many of them in the field and they routinely run 15,000+ hours without a reboot. Set'em and forget'em. |

Just keep in mind though, they are intended to be routers. Throw ACLs and firewall duties at it and those will crumble to their knees. You would still be better served stepping up to a faster router. What is the DSL's link speed? Also will this be a firewall also or will it just be a router? Something in the 3600 line would be a bit beefier and probably more along the lines of what you need. Of course either of these options is moot if you want something that isn't EoL.

 | reply to AlexNYC I am looking at that ZyWall but I don't see anywhere that it can assign two IPs on the same WAN port. It has two WAN ports but that is not what I am looking for. |

| Here's a screenshot from 2.20 firmware. Upcoming 3.0 firmware will bring IPv6. |

1 edit | OK, so I guess I am trying to see if I can configure Interface named wan1:2 or wan2:2
Same hardware port, secondary configuration.
Could this be possible? I see a "create virtual interface" on the top there ...
Edit: I even found this cool simulator but it looks different then your screenshot: »www.zyxel.com/guidemo/ZLD_v210/index.html |

1 edit | Yes, you can add as many virtual interfaces on physical interface as you want.
The on-line demo is for firmware 2.1, the current version is 2.2. Version 3.0 with IPv6 is coming in March. Firmware upgrades are for free.
Here you can find all the manuals and additional info: »ftp://ftp.zyxel.com/ZYWALL_USG_200/ |

 | reply to AlexNYC said by AlexNYC:The dsl is above 10 Meg so, it must be 100 at the wan port even at half duplex. 26xx are rated for ~12Mbps, but like JoelC707 said, it depends on the functionality you're wanting from it. Was going to add you can pick up a 37xx series that'll do wirespeed with services, do secondary IP addresses AND has 2x builtin 10/100FE interfaces for the pricerange you want, you just have to put up with the jet turbine noises of the fans.
Otherwise, there's the alternatives others have already suggested.
Curious, what are you hooking into that has to be hardcoded to 1/2 duplex?
