| [Troubles] Xbox Live SUPER LAGGY OK I just got Windstream services this week, I set it up myself. Truthfully not all that hard. I have a Sagem Fast 1704 Modem/Router. I have my laptop and my Xbox 360 both hardwired to the Modem/Router. I am a Xbox Gamer, so I try to play some Modern Warfare 3. But when I do get into a match I start experiencing some SUPER lag, I have had some 1.5mbps before and it was never this bad. I decided to press the back button in game to see what my internet connection is only to find it to be just 1 bar. For awhile I thought it might pass so I tried my best to play, but no avail. I finally gave up called tech, they told me to reset router, I did then he said he believed that should fix it thus end of conversation. tried it absolutely nothing. Called again same thing, I explained that I did this, he insisted on me completely shutting everything down for a couple of minutes and rebooting everything. I did, but once again nothing. Called again this time this guy said we will run some speed tests, well I was operating below HALF my intended rate which is 12mbps, later it bounced back up to a little over half. Called again and they said they would get back to me later.
Now I came here to see if anybody had some other ideas because I am seriously at a crossroads and its quite frustrating, mostly because I have spent a whole afternoon from 3pm till now to fix it. I got this service hoping it would be much better than others offered, but I am seriously starting to think otherwise. Anyone experience same or similar issues and know how to fix them?
Anything will be helpful at this point and thank you for your time. |

| reply to Wraith512 OKAY 4 days later(going on 5), I have called over 20 times and still no fix..... Personally I am not liking this company because, it should be a simple fix. I am told its Xbox's problem so I call them they turn around run troubleshooting things and then blame it on Windstream its a back and forth battle of hell. I am sorry this may sound really screwed up, but personally this is complete bull. Its even more frustrating when the people I talk to pretty much refuse to let me talk to a supervisor, and make me do things I have done 50x over again. |

Re: [Troubles] Xbox Live SUPER LAGGY It's just something windstream customers have to deal with. I haven't been able to play MW3 for over a week now. The onnly time my speeds are usable is after 1 in the morning. |

 | Really, that is not fair especially when they say they are better than other companies and there services can hold Xbox live. This is absolutely bull. |

1 edit | reply to Wraith512 I have noticed that my 12Meg WS service yields 3-4Meg between about 7pm and 2am- When everyone gets home and starts saturating a network that Windstream cannot seems to properly scale the capacity to support peak-use hours.
A call to tech support yielded a Tier 2 support ticket opened on 1/7/12 for what was described as "high utilization on an ATM port". I am assuming that this means that there is an over-subscription/saturation issue. This issue was worse from April to September of 2011, when WS supposedly added additional capacity in my area. I waited patiently for 7 months. However, it did not take it long before the service started to experience performance issues once again.
I opted to have Time Warner Wideband 50/5 meg service installed in September, 2011. It does not matter when I test the Wideband service- It is consistently 51+meg down and 5+ meg up.
It is funny how DSL touted the fact that their service provided a dedicated connection to the DSLAM while cable modem service nodes were "shared with your neighbors".
I spoke with the South Carolina Office of Regulatory Staff (ORS), which handles consumer complaints against utility and telecommunications providers in SC. I will wait one more week before I file a formal complaint.
I would encourage everyone with ongoing and unresolved problems to research the governing agency for utility companies in your state and determine how to file a complaint.
I know that here in SC, these issues are taken seriously by the ORS. If they are unable to mediate the issue satisfactorily, then you can escalate your complaint to the Public Service Commission for a full hearing. | Hmmm sounds interesting thanks for that information shealyse. I live in Oklahoma so I will check that out. That's 5 months!!!! Personally it should be illegal for them to over-subscribe/saturate a line. I find even more of a pain mostly because I know of people in the same town that are running off 1.5mbps, and are perfectly fine. On top of the fact of how many calls I have given them, I seriously have called at least 30x and nothing has been done. Also I two find that funny how DSL proclaims they provide a dedicated connection to the DSLAM whereas the cable modem doesn't. |

| That is what I am doing. I just think it sucks that a company does this and the only way, most of the time nowadays, to get something accomplished the way they are supposed to be is to settle things in a court. I suppose if things get that far than they will.  |

| reply to Wraith512 Let it play out and see about the others. I'm pissed because I can't stream. If I still gamed, I would be super pissed.
I bought my husband a PS3 and he games on our Verizon line at 1.5 Mbps and 10G. He also watches Netflix. I used to play EQ.
My movies are laggy and if I played games, I would be really angry.
Our Verizon caps us, takes 3 minutes to download a movie and we have the cap.
We couldn't even watch a movie the other night. Our internet connection was running at 1.5 Kbps. I'm paying for 12Mbps. |

| Same for me, I have an extreme hard time of playing at all, and I am paying for the 12mb. So I don't know what to say, I have called to many times to count by now, yet no one will give me any info, aside from me being told our area is just completely over saturated.... I also have experienced complete loss of internet yesterday. |

| OMG OMG OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My internet is beyond bloody slow this is absolutely pissing me off what the hell is going on.... It is 2:00 in the morning!!!! I cannot load a page without waiting 20 minutes for it to load. I swear I owe an hour just loading this website alone. Speed test will not load at all it keeps timing out. I want answers!!!!! |

| reply to Wraith512 New Update I absolutely cannot believe this!!! I do not think there is hope. Every time I call to get something done I am told a tech will come out. I think the tech has came to my resident more times than someone who has been with them for years.
