 | DSL Upgrade warning / advisory DSL Upgrade warning / advisory
I have been a Teksavvy customer for a long time, and was VERY happy when I was finally free of Bell. Bell set the bar so low that almost anything was better. Unfortunately, Teksavvys bar is moving closer and closer to Bell.
I have been trying to upgrade my DSL service from 5/1 to 16/1. This was all set for Tuesday Jan 10. I had to be at home from 12 Noon to 9 PM to let the 2 technicians into my house. Of course, my old DSL service was disconnected, and neither technician showed up.
Over an hour on the phone with Teksavvy. First rep kept saying how odd that you dont have service. Then she discovered I shouldnt even be having any service!!! What? Time to speak to her supervisor. Seems Teksavvy put the order to cancel my 5/1 immediately instead of when the upgrade was supposed to happen. Wonderful. I am offered Dial-up in the meantime, but had to wait on hold for 15 minutes while an account was set up for me. Total time in phone was over an hour.
New appointment set for today, Friday. I needed to be home again from 12 Noon until 9 PM. Guess what? Another no-show!!!
I just got off the phone again with customer service. Rep was very nice and apologetic. But they have to get hold of Bell again (24 hour window) and then schedule another (the third) appointment for me to wait at home hoping a tech will turn up.
I am still hopeful that one day, a tech will actually arrive. But how many wasted days waiting? And how many wasted hours trying to reach the right person at Teksavvy?
Teksavvy at least admitted partial blame. And Im sure Bell is also to blame. But is the answer to go back to Bell for an upgrade, and then move back to Teksavvy when the Bell contract is done? AKS |

 | To the last question, no. Bell will charge you $29.95 for 16/1 then when you switch back from Bell to Teksavvy, Teksavvy will charge you $99.95. All of it goes to Bell because of some under the table deal with the CRTC. |

| i feel so bad for Teksavvy with this $99 crap. they finally get to offer decent speeds and rates to people but now they're gonna lose business cuz of that stoopid $99. educated people will suck it up just to get away from the fat cats but the average user is still gonna contemplate that charge. maybe TS should just swallow half of it to make things more attractive, it's hard to say really, only time will tell... |

Incumbents charge TekSavvy high install fees since there is no guaranteed ROI. |

| A year with TekSavvy with that fee is still cheaper than a year with Bell. yea you and i know that, but bhell & robbers will offer all these discounts to people for the first 6 months/year and if ya bundle that's even more so the average joe thinks why not ? they don't think about when the pricing goes back to normal and they're paying through the nose. bhell & robbers have such a hudge reserve they can offer discounts all the time, that's how they keep their customers...plus ya don't have to buy modems or really know anything about the interent, they will walk you through everything. my neighbours stay with robbers for that very reason, because they don't know how to figure anything out for themselves and they like to complain all the time and get discounts. go figure... |
|
 | For me it wasn't so much the $99. It's having to be available for two 9 hour windows, where no one bothers to show up or even call.
Plus the looks from my wife when my daughter says she can't do homework because the internet was down.
I had to schedule events around these windows. And i will have to again for the "2nd escalation" whenever that will be.
If people have to use vacation days or take time off work for these visits, that's more than the $99.
Yes Bell seems to be sabotaging this... but Teksavvy also shares the blame from screwing up the original order.

 | reply to aks_canada bell is offering some pretty sweet deals now so take advantage of it till teksavvy gets their act together. This is the 3rd or 4th post in the last week I've read about Teksavvy agents not being able to fill out forms correctly and orders being screwed up. |

 | reply to aks_canada Saga Continues
Nice rep from Friday night told me things that ended up not being true. She told me that Bell had 24 hours to respond to an escalated call, and that Teksavvy would call me as soon as the 24 hour period had lapsed with the new tech install date. She even took down my home and cell number.
Surprise surprise! No call from Teksavvy! So I call in AGAIN this morning and get a guy named Jemery. He tells me Bell doesn't work on weekends so the 24 hours doesn't take effect until today!
Then Jeremy says if i don't hear from anyone by this afternoon I should call in to see if there's any progress!!!
What???
After all this, the onus is still on me to keep making sure Teksavvy is following up on this order.
I remember when I first joined Teksavvy I got a call from Rocky concerning a problem I was having. Now I can't even get a junior tech to call me after two missed appointments. |
|
 | reply to aks_canada Sorry to hear about your troubles.
TEK needs to change to the better soon as I could be looking for another ISP if they keep this up.
Also, the CRTC should have a rule\penality to have TEK charge BELL when there is a no show! |

Only if you are willing to pay the advertised price. I switched over to Bell mid-December 2011, during the Cable downtime saga and I couldn't be more happier.
I got Fibe25 (25/7) with 300GB cap for $47/month (this is not even in a bundle, as I am no other services with Bell). I am saving quite a bit when compared to TSI DSL25. I paid no installation charges, and no dryloop fee. |

| reply to aks_canada i saw ur in Ontario and just wanna say as much as i love the service and product im getting with TS, their installation coordination with on-site tech is just horrible.
i was asked to stay home the whole day for mine and after being 1hr from the end of the period with nobody shows up, i called them. spent about 2 hours on the phone while they're trying to figure out why nobody showed up.
so i hanged up the phone, made dinner, felt bad how i took a day off work for nothing. called them again around 7 to make appointment tomorrow or something, the guy just said "oh? it looks here ur up n running already".
so i plug in modem, and it IS all good, then i explained the whole ordeal, and the guy just say "oh u live in an apartment? u dont need to stay home, the Bell tech does his thing outside ur unit and at the end of the day confirmed to us when its done".
BAZZINGA!
ugh. mixed feeling there. not happy with service, but happy that i got net up n running that night.
ever since that day though, their cust rep is pretty solid in checking out my lines... |

no hidden fee or anything? no contract whatsoever?
sounds too good to be true.
but if its true, then i gotta read into this.
update: »www.bell.ca/Bell_Internet/Produc···ions.tab no mention of contract, but 100Gb a month only. and yes, discount for first year. theres a $30 activation fee but with no contract, this shit is interesting. whatsup Bell? scared with competition now? sorry for the OT. |
|
 | yep its pretty amazing actually, bell is giving out awesome deals for 12 months with no contract.
I got one of these deals and have been checking my billing and its been fine, so maybe bell actually figured out proper customer service.
you might not be able to download as much as you could on Teksavvy but the price is good, the stability is good and you don't get threatened with $90 fees when you call in for tech support. Also, no dry loop fee. |

| reply to dsoegiarto Yes, in fact I signed up in mid-december on their 50% of promo and when TSI released their new pricing in January I called Bell back and wanted to cancel, reason, TSI has a better price. That was when the ask me to stay as they can beat it and offered me the plan I mentioned a few posts back. |

 | reply to aks_canada If anyone is following and wants an update... I still hadn't had anyone from Teksavvy ever calling me, so I decided to try the Direct Forum.
I explained the situation, and had this reply from TSI Chad... "I've advised one of our senior order processing reps of this, Stacy, and she assured me she will be personally checking your order periodically today and calling you with any solid response we get from Bell."
I then replied to Chad with the request to have ONE person designated to handle my case from now on, because I was tired of repeatedly having to explain to multiple Teksavvy Reps the whole situation every time something goes wrong.
Chad didn't even bother replying.
He passed this on to TSI Phil who wrote me a condescending message saying that everyone at Teksavvy I had spoken to had done "exactly what they've promised, as well as given you the correct information we had at the time."
Phil did however tell me the time for my next appointment. Wonderful. But I did not need his smarmy reply.
Case in point, this "Stacy" person who was supposed to contact me as soon as they heard from Bell still hasn't called me.
Would it kill Teksavvy to have someone actually come through with their promise to phone me with an update? |
