Recrop of Egret - comments welcome

SueS See Profile noted that my Cattle Egret image might benefit from a bit more space to the left. Here's a re-crop.

My suggestion was a bit more, not a lot more. May I do a crop?

Ah, I see ...

The line of foreground vegetation in the front leads to the left edge on yours. I'd made the wider crop based on the bird's apparent line of sight to the left edge.

Yours looks like a 5x4 crop - 8x10 would be easier to find than a 12x9 or 6x4 mat.

Something to think about. I never want more space on the backside, than I have on the front of an animal or bird. Birds and animals need what I call breathing room. This is all my opinion, you and other folks may disagree.

It is an 8x10 crop.

I agree - On reflection (and your suggestion), I neglected to put sufficient space on that side.

On the 8x10, I wasn't very good in writing. My 5x4 should have been 5:4 ratio which would create a 10x8 landscape image.

I saw lots of critters today. hawks, snowy and great egrets, coots, glossy, white and juvenile brown Ibises, a gator or two, little and great blue herons, A night heron, anhingas, cormorants and storks.

Great bird watching here ...

I think Florida is the place to go for birds, maybe I will make it there someday.

The Everglades is a wonderful place - For those inclined to less adventurous watching, the Naples area parks and preserves offer nice walking trails and still see wildlife.

EDIT - here's Eagle Lakes, a local park - free to visit, lots of space and walking paths.

Without worrying about the crop ratio this is one more possibility:

Thanks M, I also like that one - I've had scenes where the standard ratios just don't seem to work.

If you know of a source that makes decent quality affordable custom mats and frames, I'd like to have one..

I actually like the crop in the top post the best. I think you did a great job with it.
