This is what I see now for my area, updated about 45 minutes ago.

Did I mention I bought a used/new to me plow truck and havent had to use it yet this year? The heated leather seats will be nice if it does get used though.

No, but something tells me that might be just a teeny bit of an overkill here. Besides no room to park such a thing and BadHat would crunch it when he tries to park his big rig in my yard.

BadHat says he doesn't wanna drive in the snow. Last I heard he was hiding down south somewhere.

-51 wind chill out at the airport this morning. much warmer in the city at -24F with a -42 wind chill.

At this point, I think I'm more concerned about losing the electronic equipment I have left than me. Even if power goes out, the temps should get better in a few days.

A hopeful sign is that the wind has picked up a couple of times since all this started and I haven't even seen one light flicker. My UPS units haven't beeped, either. Perhaps Puget Sound Energy has done a better job this time of getting tree limbs away from the wires. Hope so.

I just checked the weather, and right now the wind chill is -49F. I hope things warm up before I head home from work!

Believe it or not, I've never been outside when it's that cold.

Yipes, Terry's area forecast is considerably scarier than mine this morning (temps and wind particularly). I sure hope he is at least as well prepared as I am.

Even when the power is out I have hot water (gas). I have a little butane powered burner, so I can reheat food (have homeade soup currently) and make coffee. Have cheese, berries and nuts. Lots of flashlights and batteries. Several very nice lanterns that produce some heat and good reading light. Kindle and cell phone are charged, so I can read if I have to shut down the computers. Lots of blankets and two warm, fuzzy, cats.

I'll be fine. Hope Terry will be, too.

And you now know how to keep it from happening again?
