Re: [Sci-Fi] Walking Dead, Season 3 news!

Wohoo, that's great news.

I pretty much liked the episode as well, a bit too much talking and too little zombie killing action but still good episode.

Just can't wait to see what's next when they leave the farm.

That's bound to happen anytime soon, I hope?

I loved the ending of last week's episode. Gotta say that Rick is the man.

The character development in the series has been quite good, but I'm mystified by at least one character's actions. Unless Dale has gone entirely around the bend I can't think of any explanation for his attempt to hide the weapons. I figure he's going down shortly.

I figure the next episode will be the make-or-break for their time on the farm. Glad to see the renewal for season 3!

The last episode was great, very entertaining. Rick always seems driven to do the right thing in the right way. One day that may come to bite him (no pun intended).

Did you see the look on his face when his Wife was talking to him in the tent?

Did you see Maggie zip past her father and go right to Glenn,....?

(spoiler)

Octavean, I laughed when she did that! Soo much disrespect! lol

Great episode this week. The first half was pretty intense with the gun fight and all the walkers coming out of no where

Good episode. I thought they were gonna shoot the kid stuck on the fence. I was surprised they were gonna try to amputate

I bought Volume 1 of The Walking Dead, "Days Gone Bye”. Its great, very similar but different at the same time. Excellent stuff, now I want the entire collection.

Thought last night's episode was pretty good. Good amount of action.

Really hoped they would have left Shane behind. Even more so considering the preview of next week. I am still curious what they will do with the kid they have picked up (and tried to dump off). The whole suicide thing was kinda odd imo. And where was Hershel the whole time? Finally, is that walker (that was in the field) headed to the farm?

I don’t know what they were trying to say with that specific walker in the field.

For me though, it brought on thoughts of the tortoise and the hare. Rick and Shane speeding past that field walker twice doesn’t mean it wont catch-up to them while they are sleeping or at some other inopportune moment.

If you consider the suicide angle of the show this week, you start to see a theme of hopelessness based on the enormity of what they are up against. That lone walker in the field may have been intended to symbolize that they can’t just wipe out the threat,…any more then we could eliminate everything we consider to be a threat today (rats, roaches, extremists, criminals and so on).

Here are my thoughts on the walker walking alone in the field

I saw it as a symbol. I think the walker was symbolic of Shane being alone or feeling alone within the group. And if he didn't get passed this, he could end up alone like the walker.

Of course.. it could have meant anything and possibly nothing.

Great episode again tho! Loving this season thus far. Even tho they haven't left the farm yet, they've found great ways to keep it interesting. Also, I completely agree with the way the suicide thing was handled. Now that she has attempted and failed, she will likely value life again and not do it again. It's like telling a dog not approach a birds cage, it won't listen until it does and the bird bites him in the nose!

Can't wait for next week's episode.

While I think season 2 is getting better after bullshitting around the farm for a bunch of episodes, it's crap compared to season 1.

I guess I just liked the fact that in season 1 they had a plan other than just to survive. And they had problems other than Shane going a bit off the deep end. So far this season they only seem to run into problems when they leave the farm. Last season the problems always seemed to find them.

I'm a bit disappointed in the season so far. It seems like a whole lot of filler.

I know what you are saying comparing this season versus last season. Personally I dislike the whole Shane vs Rick situation. But I guess they have to create issues other issues to complicate things amongst the people, otherwise their time at the farm would be fairly uneventful or at least a lot less drama filled. Part of me keeps hoping Shane bites it just so that drama can end.

Maybe it's just because I have a tendency to cheer for the bad guys but I like Shane. When he finally snapped and opened up that barn, I knew right there I liked this new and improved Shane! haha..

I somewhat agree with the season 1 vs season 2 comparison but not completely. I did really like when they were in the big city and the first half of season 2 was a bit bland but this second half has been better.

The show can't be all action since a lot of the show is showing the characters and their emotional struggles with the world and what it has become. But the first half was way way too slow. This second half has had a better balance so I've been enjoying it a lot.

Removing Shane from the equation wont change the formula of the show. Therefore there will be drama,….. (of varying kinds).

Drama with a sprinkling of Zombies,…. it’s a Dramabie

I also dislike the Shane vs. Rick situation, but I think Shane is a necessary part of the group, and I like that he doesn't hesitate to make life or death decisions quickly. I could do without the Rick/Lori/Shane love-triangle though.

What I think I liked most about the first season was that they were mobile, and that they had a destination in mind (the CDC) that could end a bunch of their troubles. It reminded me a bit of sci-fi shows like BSG. The constant attacks by walkers and the tension of the situations they were in made for better TV, I thought.

The farm feels too "safe" to me. I hope they leave soon.

The character development so far in the show has been pretty good. I haven't seen much of Daryl (the crossbow guy) lately though, and he's my favorite character.

I agree the farm is too safe. They always have that safe grounds to go back to.

I like the Rick vs Shane situation but I don't like that it's based around Lori. I just wish it was more centered around their differences in decision making, morals and welfare of the group rather than around their love for Lori and this unborn child. Hate that aspect of it.

I also agree that the farm is too safe but I don’t quite get why that would be. There are other places that should logically be safer then such an open area. I would like to see them move on to greener pastures,….so to speak. The problem though is that there has to be some reasonable goal or higher level reasoning in their destination / motives.

I don’t just want to see them wondering aimlessly because logically they shouldn’t be able to survive that for very long. The CDC made sense but what makes sense now? I don’t think they expect outside help from remnants of a governing body, the military or law enforcement. They know they need to rely on themselves. So where to now if they feel safe at the farm?

BTW, did anyone notice that Rick and Shane said that they found no bite marks on the guards? Then suggested it must have been scratches?

That was for foreshadowing an upcoming plot, along with the burnt bodies. I think their going to end up in camp kind of similar to the one in the movie the Postman. There's going be some whack job who wants to rebuild society in his own way. With a bunch of low life followers that go out and try to capture/recruit new followers. The group will be forced into this camp and have to survive, and some might not make it because of moral standings, age, usefulness ... so on.
