It just seems like a different atmosphere there and the Brazillian fighters try their all out best to win in front of their fans. And the fans sound so much more energized than anywhere else.
The Edson Barboza spinning heel kick KO was amazing...definitely in the top 5 best ever KO's.
Rousimar Palhares is a beast. That's the third knee he's torn from his heel hooks.
Jose Aldo probably isn't going to be beat at 155 by anyone in the UFC. Would love to see him smash Dominick Cruz in a catchweight fight at 150. I think he and Gilbert Melendez from Strikeforce would be a good fight but for some reason the UFC hasn't brought Melendez over yet.
And Erick Silva is going to be a guy to watch out for. He got totally screwed last night on the DQ. One of those punches MAY have landed on the back of the head but no way it deserved a DQ. Have seen alot worse. Mario Yamasaki is usually one of the better referees but that call was terrible.
And was really glad to see Belfort win his fight in dominating fashion. He's one of the most humble and likable fighters in the sport. |

Either way, terrible call. -- "The man who thinks he can and the man who thinks he can't, are both right. Which one are you?" |

| reply to Riplin The call by Yamasaki might have been bad, but he didn't have the luxury of looking at a replay so he had to go with what he thought he saw.
I think Rogan calling him out, in public and in front of the entire audience on site and watching via PPV was totally, TOTALLY, offside. Disagree with the call? Fine, but going after the ref right at that moment was wrong and completely classless.

| Some great fights, awesome knockouts by Barboza & Aldo, and I was glad to see Belfort win too.
About the DQ... Yes it was unfortunate, but mistakes happen, how many times have they debated if the ref called a fight too early, etc. But I've never seen the ref being confronted like that. In fact I was a bit confused when Rogan started talking to Yamasaki live. -- GO LEAFS GO! |
