MadtownPremium join:2008-04-26 Madera, CA | SSID still show up as the old one on my laptop. I changed my SSID from BIG BAD BOSS to BIG BAD POPPA. However sometimes when my laptop connect it still show up as BIG BAD BOSS, but my SSID is actually BIG BAD POPPA.
For example, on the bottom of my laptop it will say BIG BAD BOSS even though my SSID is BIG BAD POPPA.
I even confirmed that it is BIG BAD POPPA by looking at inSSIDer 2.0.
What is causing this and how can i fix this. This only happens on my laptop, not my Xbox 360.

Highlight and click on Remove to delete the old profile. You can also use Merge or delete network locations as needed to remove old networks. Have you also simply tried resetting the router, ie. power off the router, wait 20 seconds and power the router back on? -- "When all else fails read the instructions..." MS-MVP Windows Expert - Consumer |

I have powered off the router for more than 20 seconds and power it on, still doesn't work. |

The name assigned to your network was based on the SSID the first time you connected. The SSID may have changed, but the network has not, so Windows 7 still sees it as the same network and shows the original name.
The Manage Wireless Networks section only keeps track of the data needed to connect to the wireless network, not the name assigned to the network by Windows.
Open up the Network and Sharing Center, click on the icon for the network (indicated in the screenshot), and it will bring up the Set Network Properties Screen where you can make changes. |
