[DD-WRT] WRT54GS V1.0 wireless device reconection issues

OP »www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.···ghlight=

I have WRT54GS V1.0 with 15230M VINT Eko from the peacock thread (which I was hoping would solve my problem) and a ZyXel P-660R-ELNK with the P-660R-D1 V3.40(AGE.5) | 05/07/2010 firmware. The problem I am having is wireless devices that connect than discount do not want to re-obtain an IP when they reconnect. Static IP wireless device have no problem reconnecting.
So is it my settings or the two devices not liking each other.

ZyXel modem
Mode: Routing (ZyXel use term Routing for device hosting and bridge for another device hosting)
IP: 192.168.1.1
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
DHCP: Server
IP Pool Starting Address: 192.168.1.33
Pool Size: 32
RIP Direction: Both
RIP Version: RIP-2B
Multicast: None
Any IP: Disabled

WRT54GS
Mode: Router
Dynamic Routing: Disabled
WAN Connection Type: Disabled
Local IP: 192.168.1.2
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.1.1
Assign WAN Port to Switch: Enabled
DHCP Server: Disabled
Wireless Security is WEP(Hopefully this is not the culprit)
Afterbuner: Enabled
Everything else is left to defaults.

I have modem connected through the WAN port. I also have a BEFSR41(version 1 which has up link port) connected but not many setting in there, can really only disable DHCP.

WEP is NOT a safe way of security a wireless network!
Log into the ZyXel router and see if you can find a page which lists DHCP leases - look for "DHCP client list". Are all 32 address in use - I am thinking they are, and I bet you don't recognise most of the MAC addresses listed there.

I urge/implore you to change over to WPA2 AES (CCMP), use a nice long random passkey of ASCII characters and input this new key into your wireless device.

I believe you need to make the router the gateway. Your current settings make the modem the gateway. Try disabling DHCP on the modem and enable it on the router. Make the gateway your router's IP and subnet, and enable WAN on the router.

It may be that you have a conflict by having the modes on both the modem and the router set to router. The modem should be set to modem mode and the router to router mode.

Edit: After re-reading your post I'm not sure what you are trying to do with two routers in the network. Is the Linksys being used as a switch only? If you want to use it as a switch make sure wireless is disabled and it is connected LAN to LAN.
