| TWC customers in the Southeast... ...have any of you seen any connection drops or had problems buffering youtube videos over the past week or two?
First of all, let me say hello to everyone here.
Secondly, for the past week or so, I have been having problems getting youtube videos to buffer. I live in Myrtle Beach, SC and this wouldn't be the first time we've had problems with youtube videos. Even videos less than a minute long take minutes to buffer fully.
So, I did the usual tests of seeing if it was just my connection or if any other video services were slow. My connection speed is fine, according to speedtest.net. Netflix and other streaming services work fine and I can game on the connection without any problem.
So, I figured that it was youtube, until I went to my girlfriend's house, who has HTC, and the videos worked fine. So, then I decided to try them on my phone, a Samsung Vibrant on Tmobile. They actually buffered better on 3G than they did on my wired cable connection at home.
So, I was just wondering if anyone else in the SE US has had any problems. Powercycling the modem and router have had no effects and I hesitate to call them because they act as if any problem on their end is non-existent.

kudos:6 | Youtube has been slow for me too then I changed my DNS servers to some different ones. Been using public dns servers for a while now and just switched to some different ones and youtube started loading faster afterwards. |

In the past three or four days, I've started having intermittent problems again - loss of DNS sometimes, complete lost of connectivity others. Loss connectivity twice today - so far.
Edit: Now we're up to four. |

I switched to open DNS' servers and while it says I am actually using them, youtube still won't buffer. Maybe I'll try using Google's dns.
It's really weird how it's just youtube, though, and how it's only on a TWC network. |

| Youtube has been slow for quite some time for me now. Normally changing DNS servers would solve that but not this time it didnt.
Btw I used this neat little program to find the fastest DNS servers.

I sent an email to TWC early this morning basically recounting everything I mentioned to you guys. No word yet.
Iyt does seem to be working better, however, but for how long is anyone's guess. I'm not sure if it's as good as it once was, but it does work better.
Let's hope this is the end of the issue. |

Apparently it is not fixed as I found just found my connectivity gone again. They seem to be switching servers frequently again. Was dropped at least four times yesterday. |

These types of problems in the immediate area (Central Carolina) have been going on on and off for months - close to half a year, at least. I have posted here more than once about it and had people crawl my ass.
Looks like TWC has recurring problems with its infrastructure in the region that it will not admit to and has not yet been able to resolve within a period of months.
I would be a lot happier as a customer if I could just get factual information from TWC about what is happening. |
