You obviously have the same passion for this serious as I do. I anxiously await your posts for your thoughts on the game. |

Well, I stayed up far too late last night, waiting for the download to get to playable, thinking I could pull shit like when I was 19 and stay up all night. I powered though until about 3:45, right when the game was playable and couldn't keep my eyes open anymore.
So I just got up about an hour ago (11 AM Mountain Time), ate some breakfast and showered. Here we go! -- DSLR's #1 Diablo 3 Fan. |

 | Ok, Ill write up a quick initial take on the game, after getting to level 5.
For some unknown reason, last night I clicked play to just see if it would open before trudging off to bed. It worked just fine so I closed out and tried to reopen the launcher to finish downloading the rest while I slept. However, it would just launch right into the game, so now I get little stutters whenever something new happens as the game is downloading the information or something. Slightly annoying.
I logged in and made a Wizard, curious to see what the power of the signature spell caster would be like. As soon as I logged in, I knew exactly what everyone was talking about. The game is definently not on par graphically with games like The Old Republic or Battlefield 3. However, I was not ever expecting that, so nothing lost there.
I went into the settings and turned everything to max settings and turned anti-aliasing off. It seems less blurry and much crisper with it off.
I made my way to Tristram, slaying Zombies left and right. The transition between the way you cast spells in D1/2 and D3 is very nice. I like that I can have several skills hotkeyed at once, as well as have a basic attack ready to roll. I will be very excited once I can socket runes into my skills and completely modify the way the skill works.
The game makes me smile many times as I wander the ruins of Old Tristram and the cemetary. They did a great job of keeping the feeling of Diablo there. I jumped into a dungeon and started casting AoE spells and destroying pillars right away, and am having a blast. I already saw an item that increased MF by 4%, and I have two items equipped that increase my base experience gained from killing a monster by 4. Love that, especially for low levels. Im thinking this is the good twink gear now, making you level up faster.
I think I am about half way through the beta right now. Ill write more here probably in about an hour. -- DSLR's #1 Diablo 3 Fan. |

 | Beat it, about 2 hours of game play, and that was going through almost every nook and cranny. Of course, when I figured out that my Wizards spells were increased dramatically by equiping a sword with +14 max damage on it, well, the I stomped people.
I LOVE THIS GAME!
Yes, the graphics are not bleeding edge. But that is perfectly ok with me, and it does not take away from the awesome fun I have.
Is it a grindfest? No, not at all. When I think of grinding I think of fighting a few mobs at a time, slowly leveling and doing quest and running back to town and getting new quest and training and blah blah blah.
This is not that game at all. I am running through a dungeon, disintegrating piles of creatures and getting bonus XP for killing 20 creatures in a row. Im AOEing massive groups of mobs and then finishing off the onesies twosies with a powerful magic missile.
One sec, coffee is kicking in. BrB.
Anyways, this was exactly what I was hoping for.
Scroll of Companion: This little guy will run around and pick up gold for you, much like the little dog in Fate, if you ever played that. Quite handy.
Gripe: Helper tips get annoying and in the way sometimes. It kept telling me I have empty equipment slots, which at first I thought meant that I had an item in my inventory that I could equip into an empty slot. Nope. Just wanted to let me know that I still havent found a helmet. Big suprise.
Companion is cool, he was kicking ass for me the whole time.
This game will be epic. I am going back to max level my wizard right now and check out the last few skills in the beta. Leroic dropped some awesome rare leather gloves. More XP bonus and MF. Hollah at your boy! -- DSLR's #1 Diablo 3 Fan. |

Anyways, my friend is bemoaning the fact that I am not logging on to play ToR with him, so off to do that now. More updates soon! -- DSLR's #1 Diablo 3 Fan. |

So what do you call running the dungeon and killing the Skeleton King dozens of times to pick up the crafter pages and getting epic drops from the boss to DE into mats to craft better gear? -- If we lose this freedom of ours, history will record with the greatest astonishment, those who had the most to lose, did the least to prevent its happening. |
