 | How to configure Modem/router+ modem I have a TP-Link TD-8840 ADSL modem + a linksys wireless router with tomato firmware on it. I currently have them both setup, with the linksys router plugged into a port on the back of the tp-link router/modem into a normal (non WAN) port on the router. While things sort of work, there is something strange because occasionally I will get huge packet loss for a while and then it will stop.
I'm wondering how I can configure this so that I have the linksys router be the only real router in the configuration, with the TP link router/modem just acting as a modem. What do I need to do to do this? I have the router modem right now in PPOE LLC mode with "bridge interface" selected but that doesn't seem to do anything? Do I want to set the "ISP encapsulation" to bridge mode rather than PPPoA/PPPoE? How should I be connecting the tp-link modem to the linksys router, do I use the WAN port of the router, and do I need a crossover cable or something?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

 | reply to Threep666 I got it, the general directions Bink privided were enough so that I could figure it out. I didn't realize that the dsl account stuff had to go on the router after I set the modem to be in bridged mode.
Things seem a lot better now, the chip in the 8840 must be crap or conflicting or something because now it seems to work a lot better using the linksys wrtg as the router instead of just an access point. |
