WNR 1000

I just applied the new upgrade and the only problem I'm having is now my front panel lights are solid not flashing. Is this normal? and is there a fix for it? or can I go back and how would I?

Your question as asked has no answer.

Which hardware version of the WNR1000 (v1, v2, v3)?
Which firmware version did you install?
Which firmware version did you previously have?
Have you tried doing a push button factory default reset and reconfiguring the router? Sometimes a firmware upgrade will require a factory default reset to get everything working normally after the upgrade.

When you can answer the above questions (assuming that resetting the router doesn't fix the symptom), you can go to »ftp://downloads.netgear.com/files/ and find the previous firmware version and reinstall it to see if the router reverts to its previous operation.

Here is a screen shot of the Netgear ftp page from which you can download their firmware:

Shown below is a screen shot of where you would install firmware manually (at least on my WNR1000v2, I can't promise that your mystery WNR1000 page will look identical). Just follow the instructions on the right side of the window for doing the upgrade from your hard disk, but go to the ftp site link I provided instead of going to www.netgear.com, because older firmware versions may not be as easy to find from the web site. Also, you will be warned that you are doing a downgrade instead of an upgrade, and you will have to tell it that you really want to do it (I have done this on numerous occasions, and I have never had a Netgear router barf when reverting to a previous firmware version, but YMMV).
