I have one desktop directly plugged into a cable modem and want to do a direct USB connect between both desktops so the second desktop can have internet as well. How reliable is this? What can I expect? |

why not just get a cheap router and an ethernet cable? easy and painless...saves you the hassle of pulling your hair... |

You need a special USB cable to connect two machine, similar to a ethernet cross over cable. Using a standard USB to USB cable may cause damage.
I'll second the suggestion to use a switch and ethernet.
