Re: Accident update: since you could not keep the petty... yea, it wouldn't have been nearly as bad if it was a car, because the bumpers would have hit each other...instead, he bumper hit my grill/hood, which causes a lot more damage inside...that's ok...makes me feel a little better that my "free accident" was a little more worth it...i would have been pissed off if i wasted it on a $1500 "fender bender". -- My friends, love is better than anger. Don't worry DJ, they'll get that 4000 bucks back and then some in increased insurance claims. -- No, I didn't. Honest... I ran out of gas. I... I had a flat tire. dirtyjefferAnons on ignore.Premium join:2002-02-21 London, ON | yes, my policy has accident forgiveness on it...of course, that doesn't help me if i have another one within the next 6 years, but i am hoping i am good for another 20+ years. |

But you can't shop around as Autoplus will flag you for 6 years...so you are at the mercy of the underwriting and FSCO filings.
$4500.00...you see now how there is some advantage for me to pick up these cars dirt cheap that have been tapped...for example I could have get your car for 5 to 7k and dropped less than a 1k on it to fix and have a new car with a slight market depreciation for an accident history...which is moot if you keep it for a few years. |

Good point DJ. A reduced impact collision, if it's going to happen, is another advantage that snow tires provide. -- Logic requires one to deal with decisions that one's ego will not permit. i have been with my insurance company now for several years (maybe 10?) and have been quite pleased...i have shopped around a few times and no one else was even close for rates...my only concern before was how i was to be treated when the day finally came that i needed them, and they were very easy to deal with any things couldn't really have been any smoother.

oh, i know...i never disagreed with your ability for a good deal, nor the "practicality" of your purchases...if you plan on keeping the car for 5-10 years (whatever the lifespan ends up being), it makes sense to get a car that has been in a minor accident, that no one wanted for 30 cents on the dollar...if i was as handy as you, i'd consider it myself...who knows...maybe i'll ask you to hook me up for a Pistol Pete's Pre-owned Special. -- My friends, love is better than anger. | Boy that car was most unhappy at points, even with the snows, there was some serious sideways tangoing going on at points

Reminds me of the shenanigans that dad used to pull in the winter with the family car at the time ('67 Ford Mustang)
He used snow tires on the rear axle only (with the studs removed, yes he was that cheap) but could still make that car "dance" on command, with the ass of the car shaking back & forth like it was a metronome but be in absolute control
I'm neither that skilled (or crazy) so snows & AWD here thanks...
