 | It won't matter. Given the amoral, selfish and despicable behavior of politicans, it should be obvious by now we'll get SOPA with a different name and a new pretty bow. The only way to stop it is for EVERY SINGLE OPPONENT -- ISP, content provider, Google, Joe Smith's grandma -- to make their voices heard by implementing a serious effort for shut down the internet for 24 hours. That is the one and only thing that will stop them...for a while.
The worst danger isn't so much the passage of SOPA...it'll be congressional efforts to "fix it." The mess will look a lot like those duct-tape nightmares on the Cheezburger sites.
"Government's view of the economy (me: and now the internet) could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it."
-- Quote by Ronald Reagan, Remarks to the White House Conference on Small Business (August 15, 1986) | | | Politicians and lobbyists have nothing else to do but to write new restrictive and exploitative laws. They are drawing paychecks and will continue until the end of time. Congress should be convened only for every 10th year. | | PrntRhdPremium join:2004-11-03 Fairfield, CA Reviews:

Not really, the thing that stops Washington politicians is the threat of funding their Opponents' campaigns, and following through with that funding. Increase the difficulty of their reelection exponentially every election cycle, they work to make their districts "safe", and throw a wrench into those efforts. Target several of them each cycle, not all of them at once. Target a couple of the high profile politicians who push this crap. Make them fear losing their jobs for supporting this stuff. | |
