 | Just Stupid or Devious Plot Was very surprised to receive a bill for phone service this month because I don't have phone service, just dry loop. As far as I know always before it was just called Internet service. Signing in using their link it says I have phone service with Internet. Phone charge is $0.00 and Internet charge is correct.
I put it put it down to terminal cluelessness by the designer of the new page but then it occurred to me the main reason I dropped phone service was taxes and fees equaled what I paid for my phone service. Since I now according to them have "phone service" will they next sneak in fees and taxes in another month or two?
I know paranoid but even paranoids have enemies. |

I know paranoid but even paranoids have enemies. No it's a very legitimate question. It really depends on how they set it up and who put in your order, ect... That said, if it is a DRY loop, you would NOT pay any fee's/taxes that would normally be associated with telephone service.
Now, it's been awhile since I worked for AT&T, but typically they have to have a dummy number in order to provision phone service. So as long as the accounts are properly coded [again 'as long'], you SHOULD not see any taxes, FCC, 911 or other similar local recovery/infrastructure fee's on your bill.
I would just keep a hawks eye on your bill and if indeed they person did enter it into the billing system(s) incorrectly, then bring it to their billing departments attention and they should be able to fix it and credit back any differences. |

 | Thanks. I've had the account for a couple of years and unless I'm more senile then I thought this is new. Thats why I was posting to see if anyone else with DSL only noticed a change. |

| Yup no problem. It's really kind of wacky how many different system(s) they bellsouth/sbc/at&t has jumbled together over the years..
Otherwise, there have been times where it would take 3-4 phone calls and verification and re-verification by the person creating the ticket and if you just got someone who was new to the company or was in a call center and had someone beating them over the head for number(s) or time on a customer service/order call, it's anyone's guess how many repeat order(s) for the same service would have to be made. |
