 | [HSI] New to Charter HSI So I am switching from Verizon DSL to Charter internet. I ordered the express plan and I purchased a MOTOROLA SB5101U SURFboard modem which is DOCSIS 2.0, would this modem support the plus plan or do I need a DOCSIS 3.0 modem? |
|
 | I too just jumped shipped from Verizon DSL three days ago. I am thrilled to death. I have Plus at $29.99. I would get the SB6120 or SB6121 Modems which are DOCSIS 3.0. It is future-proof. |

Regardless of the plan you're on, if you're in a Docsis 3 area, the channel bonding will make your connection much more stable. -- The Firefox alternative. »www.mozilla.org/projects/seamonkey/ |

| reply to magic108 Depending on the Charter service area your in, DOCSIS 3.0 maybe avaliable or it may not. Either way a DOCSIS 3.0 modem will work on the DOCSIS 2.0 systems also. 2.0 modem will work but a 3.0 modem would be future proof when Charter does flip the switch for channel bonding (3.0). |

 | reply to magic108 So far I haven't found the need for a DOCSIS 3.0 modem. My DOCSIS 2.0 modem has worked perfectly so far. The only thing that did bug me was that I was not informed of the $50 installation fee when I ordered the service, though a charter rep was able to credit me for the install fee since they couldn't waive it. Otherwise I have been extremely happy with the speeds, its a huge improvement over DSL. |
