Comparing cable to wireless speeds.

Here's my current Ultimate speed test. The download rate is usually much higher, but I still suffer from congestion during peak hours.

Here's my current Rogers Wireless speed test.

I find it interesting to compare the two. Not that the upload speed on my cell phone is 10x faster than my cable connection.

It'll be great when Rogers finally implements higher upload rates on cable.

Are you using your SMC/Cisco in bridge mode?

Yes, we all can't wait for REAL upload speeds. My phone is HSPA+ and it still beats cable.

Yup, I've got the SMC in bridge mode and am using a Linksys e4200 router. I've topped out at 123mbps sustained download from newsgroups in the middle of the night.

Crazy. I've noticed a lot of the Roger's complaints lately are in Mississauga, yet Mississauga seems to be where a good number of these new "Random" tiers are popping up. Coincidence?

My best wireless speed test so far. Download speed is comparable to my Rogers Ultimate account during near-peak times.

Nice, but you just can't compare the caps... LTE is cool, but just not realistic for everyday use.

Beautiful upload speeds too. If you ever have to upload a large file you might as well tether :P What phone are you using?

I'm assuming by "everyday use" you mean it's not suitable as a replacement for a hard-line internet connection which I agree with. The thing is, with the low latency and high speeds LTE is perfectly suitable as a mobile internet solution.

I have the 6GB data plan from Rogers, which is currently enough for my mobile usage. I do use my mobile phone AND my tablet every day and LTE matches up with that perfectly. HSPA has had some major latency issues for me in the past.

LTE latency isn't really much better than HSPA+, it's still part of the 3G family, it's not until the LTE Advanced upgrades come along that you'll see sub 5ms to your gateway and the really fast speeds like 1.5 Gbps upload. This is all maybe 3 or 4 years away.

That's not quite accurate. I've experienced a consistent 50ms on all HSPA connections. Most of my LTE connections are between 30 and 50ms, while most of my HSPA connections are between 50 and 100ms. None of my HSPA tests have shown 50ms.

It's not quite a match for the latency on my cable connection which is usually between 10 and 30ms, but it's still very close.

The current generation of LTE is just transitional, a stepping stone to 4G, but for now shares a lot of characteristics with HSPA

Yeah, I get pretty respectable upload speeds on my Rogers HSPA+ device as well compared to my express connection.
