D-Link DIR-665 at 5Ghz...but still cordless interference.

I'm running a D-Link DIR-665 at 5Ghz, wireless-n only. My cordless phones are 2.4Ghz Panasonic units. And yet when there's heavy traffic, the phones still break up. Why should this be?

Your 2.4Ghz phones will have issues with wireless mouse/keyboards, Bluetooth gear [headphone, speakers, keyboards, etc.], microwave ovens.

Your DIR-665 is a dual band system -- so the 2.4Ghz radios must be turned off to prevent interference with your 2.4Ghz phones

I would suggest that you consider chucking the 2.4Ghz phones and replace with DECT phones like the AT&T CL83201 DECT 6.0 Cordless Phone

The DIR-655 doesn't have a 5GHZ radio. Are you talking about the 855?

As far as I can tell, 2.4GHz is off, because I have a choice -- either 2.4 or 5. This is a dual band router, but it is an either-or -- I can't have both at the same time like some other routers.

So my guess is that even though I went the 5GHz route, I still get interference with my 2.4GHz phone. I guess I do need to get the DECT phones...

I just noticed something. The interference only happens when I'm sitting by my router (which is often, as that's where my home office is). Once I walk away about ten feet, the interference stops. So even though there are two different frequencies being used, interference still happens.

Upon further investigation YOU cannot turn off the 2.4 Radio ...
