Re: New Home...Charter Said we Had internet YET WE DONT! said by BF69:said by StLCardsFan:sometimes the satisfaction is worth the effort. So you rather spend years in court and still possibly lose than than to just get internet? I dont recall ever going to neighbors and asking if the water was good to drink before buying a home. I dont recall ever having to ask potential neighbors anything at all actually. That's you. I guess I'm alittel more pragmantic about investing my $100K+. Appearantly you have tons of money to piss away. He called Charter for Charter service. Yeah and they fucked up. Now he has been told his choices which are A) Pay up and get Charter internet B) go with satellite/mobile/dial-up C) move D) do without That's it. Nuff said. He needs to choose one of the 4 and STFU already. you make me laugh guy. Either you are young or naive ...or both. Years in court ..hardly. Maybe a year ... one day every couple of months is hardly taking my time. People dont get and keep money by being naive.
Ive owned several homes and none of which I ever went to ask neighbors about internet. Its pretty standard to call ISP's beforehand ... just as you do with gas/power/water.
And ...lets say i did spend 100,000 on this home (which oddly highlights the point you are missing) ... you just lost 12% of the market value because of charters oopsie. thats HUGE. I sure can't afford to lose 12% on investments ...but you can apparently. This 12% loss will only quantify as time goes on.
There was no mistake from the charter rep that confirmed the service.... matter of fact charter wouldn't have sent a guy to come hook it up. That says charter is at fault.... not some flunkie phone person.
Lastly ..no matter how much you want it to be true ... doesn't make it true. Regardless of who in charter is to blame ...whether it be a contractor, phone answerer, plant engineer, GIS administrator, or the flying spaghetti monster mascot ... their mistake collectively cost this home buyer 12 grand. Thats cut and dry. Unfortunately, it will most likely take court for them to pay. Corporations only change bad behavior when it costs them money. I assure you it wouldnt take many 12000 restitution awards before they got their datas in order and prevented this situation from happening to the next ricky from georgia. |

Which is the WHOLE point Einstien. And at best he will still be found partially repsonsible. So any money Charter owes him will go directly to his lawyer. And that still doesn't mean he gets internet from Charter. And even if it's "only" a year that's still a year without internet. being "right" isn't aways the best thing. Sometimes when you win you lose.
Maybe the OP can tells us exactly what he wants. Does he want internet from Charter because that's what I though he originally posted about. Or does he want a court of law to proclaim him a victim and Charter the evil perpatrator?
I don't care what you do or don't do on the houses you buy. I'm pretty sure Charter wil have pretty good lawyers and they'll make a pretty good case that even if Charter messed up the OP didn't do everything he could have to make sure he could get Charter. Also as long as there is mobile and/or satellite internet available no matter how shitty those options may be. He doesn't have a case that he doesn't have access to "broadband" thus his house value is less than what it would be. And even if it is how is it Charter's responsibility that his house be a certain value? His house didn't lose value. It was worth the same ammount that is was when the OP bought it.
If the OP is expecting Charter to bring internet to his house for FREE that isn't going to happen. |

| reply to StLCardsFan Where is the requirement to disclose no cable access listed on the Georgia Property Seller's Disclosure form? I just googled the exact 2011 forms and broadband availability is not part of the defects. Certainly a majority of customer might desire it, whereas others, for instance my elderly parents, would not insist on it. If there is satellite service and alternate phone service, they would be happy. A court cannot state without a doubt that the home loss is $12,000.
It is not a structural defect, and ricky doesn't have to bring it up. If the buyer asks, then he would disclose it.
It will be interesting to see what type of settlement ricky will receive, if any. |

 | reply to ricky_005 Hey,just check around for a type of green box or on the lowest line of a power pole, a whole bunch of cable coming down and to other houses. |
