 | Timeline for faster upload speed availability? From what I remember, there were going to be bumps from "2.5" mbit upload to 7 and 12 this year, with 7 looking to happen some time in Q1. Are things still on track to see 7 in the next couple of months? |
|
 | I must have missed that. Where exactly was that mentioned? I severely doubt there is any way a 7mbps upload is going to happen in Q1 of this year or even the next few. |

 | reply to BadMagpie Telus Quebec has a 50/7 service. TierX said said coming Q1 in the west and then Q3 12 upload. To be honest download is more important than upload for most especially if your pushing video around the home which is what telus is trying to do at the moment. |
|
 | reply to hestonk Better upload speed would be the only reason I would stay with Telus. I'm comtemplating a move back to Shaw for their 50/5 service - bundling pricing is pretty similar to Telus' 25/3 too.
Wonder if they'll roll this out soon? |

 | reply to Branflakes If I'm pushing any media throughout my house, that's completely independent of anything my ISP would offer. However, if I'm pushing media from my house in Edmonton to my house in Florida, then having that upstream is critical. I'm all for more upstream ASAP! |
|
 | reply to BadMagpie If this is true, it'd be awesome. Too bad the average user doesn't understand how important upstream is. Sadly these users are the ones Telus caters to. |
|
 | reply to BadMagpie This would sure be nice. I know I was looking at Shaw today and they have a 250/15 plan now, sure it is expensive, but that is what we should be getting for speeds.
Come on Telus, give us the speeds we want. 50/7 is certainly a good start. |

I am the "technical advisor" for many of my family and friends.
The question "why do my photos and attachments take so long to transfer?" comes up a lot.
Seems most people simply assume that the advertised download speed means both ways.
Then I have to explain to them about upload speed.
Their reply after I've explained how it works is often something along the lines of "well that sucks".
I wonder how much power could be saved if people didn't have to leave their computers on all night to upload large amounts of data? I know I've done that quite a few times. |
