ooptec join:2012-01-18 Hafford, SK | [HN9000] connection problems hey,
I just installed windows 7 professional on a Acer Aspire 5742-7438. i3-370M
I cannot connect to my Hughes HN9000 modem thru my TP LINK TLSF1008D wired router.
When go to computers 'device manager' and open 'other devices>ethernet controller>ethernet controller properties' under the general tab it reads
Ethernet Controller Device type: other devices Manufacturer: Unknown Location:PCI Bus1, device 0, function 0
Device Status The drivers for this Device are not installed (Code 28) There is no driver selected for the device information set or element To find a driver for this device click update driver
So I clicked on update driver radio button
Option 1 was browse for driver software on your computer
Set search for driver software in this location I entered C:\ (include subfolders) and it returned
Windows was unable to install your ethernet controller windows could not find driver software for your device If you know the manufacturer of your device you can visit its website and check the support section for driver software
(hard to do if not connected)
So went back to Option 2 Browse My computer for driver software
Window lists common hardware devices
61883Device Class AVC Services Batteries Biometric Devices Bluetooth Radios Computer Disc Drives Display Adaptors DVD/CD ROM Drives Floppy Disc Drives Floopy Drive Controllers Human Interface Devices IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers IEEE 1284.4 compatible printer IEEE 1284.4 devices IEEE 1394 an SCSI printers iEEE 1394 Bus host controllers Imaging Devices Infrared Devices Keyboards Media Center Extender Medium Changer Devices Memory devices memory technology driver Mice and other pointing devices Microsoft common controller for windows class Mobile Devices Modems Monitors Multifunction adaptors Multi-port serial adaptors Network adaptors Network Client Network protocol Network service Non-plug and play drivers PCMCIA adaptors Portable Devices Ports (COM & LPT) Printers Processors SBP2 IEEE 1394 Devices SD host adapters Security Devices Sensors Smart Card Filter Smart card readers smart cards Sound, video and game controllers Storage controllers Storage volume shadow copies System devices Tape drives Transfer Cable devices Universal serial bus controllers windows side show
So tried modems>update driver software>ethernet controller>install new modem
It lists manufacturers in one window of which hughes net isn't listed and in the other window 'models'
Communications cable between 2 computers parallel cable between 2 computers Standard 300 bps modem Standard 1200 bps modem Standard 2400 bps modem Standard 9600 bps modem Standard 14400 bps modem Standard 19200 bps modem Standard 28800 bps modem onwards to Standard 56000 bps modem Standard 56000 bps V90 modem Standard 56000 bps X2 modem Standard 9600 bps modem Standard modem Standard PCMCIA modem Unknown Modem
Got update driver warning "installing this device driver is not recommended because windows cannot verify it is compatable w/your hardware. Do you want to continue installing this driver?'
Go back to Start>Control Panel>Network and Internet>Internet options>connect to the internet
Got windows did not detect any networking hardware
Any Ideas anyone?
Appreciate the help

Raminto join:2006-02-28 Whitehorse, YT 1 edit | Your Hughes modem does not need a driver to run. Your network adapter driver is either not installed or not working correctly. Edit: Can you connect to the modem when your computer is plugged in directly into the modem? If yes then the router is the problem. What is the IP address of the router? If it is 192.168.0.1 you will have to change it. -- dw7000/.98m/2watt/Horizon1/1381/256k4/5 /xp sp2/desktop compaq 6330CA/linksys wireless/thinkpad xp pro/Toughbook CF-28 xp pro |

thnx and cheers I was talking about the router IP address. The Hughes modem is always 192.168.0.1 and this cannot be changed.
Did your Hughes service came with a static IP? -- dw7000/.98m/2watt/Horizon1/1381/256k4/5 /xp sp2/desktop compaq 6330CA/linksys wireless/thinkpad xp pro/Toughbook CF-28 xp pro |

SkywaySkyway join:2003-02-04 Mission, BC | reply to ooptec The TP LINK TLSF1008D is not a router it is a switch...
You should start with trying to get the HN9000 working directly connected to your computer...
Try turning off your computer and unplugging the HN9000...
Remove the TP LINK, connecting the HN9000 using an ethernet cable directly to your computer.
Turn on ONLY the HN9000 and wait for a few minutes while the HN9000 starts up resets and connects to the satellite once you are sure that is done...then turn on your computer...
If that doesn't work you need to work on getting your network drivers and card working on your computer... -- Hughesnet/Telesat/Motosat/Xplornet/Tachyon installer l Home-ShawCable HS l Work vehicle-Motosat D2 F1 7000S from Xplornet [Canadian] l Windows 7 |
