I received a robot call yesterday from the mother ship yesterday which directed me to the link above.
"Watch Live TV on your laptop!
You are invited to participate in a limited trial of the Optimum App for Laptop. The Optimum App for Laptop transforms your laptop into an additional TV in your home. As an iO TV subscriber, you now can watch live TV on your laptop while in your home and connected to your Optimum modem.
This application will be available to select customers in your area for a limited time as part of a customer trial.
App Features:
Live TV Watch all of your favorite channels live. Access your favorite programs, sporting events and more anywhere within your home while connected to your Optimum modem. Use the in-app keypad to tune directly to the channel you want Control access using the application's integrated Parental Controls.
Channel Guide Browse TV listings for your area Mark your favorite channels. Filter TV listings by day, time, genre and more."
I tried installing the app on my desktop machine as I hardly ever use a laptop around the house. I got the following error message:
"We're sorry, but this computer's setup is not compatible with the Optimum App.
Here's why:
1. We're sorry -- the Optimum App for Laptop supports only laptop computers without external displays connected."
Wish they would release an Android app I could use on my tablet instead. |

 | Talk about asinine...limiting it the laptop. Some people would actually like to watch using a bigger external screen. Baby steps it seems wither distributors limiting the potential of this as usual or Cablevision intentionally limiting it. |

 | reply to pa prowler The HBO GO app is the same way. It won't output to external devices on the iPad. |
|
 | reply to pa prowler I've been waiting forever for at least an Android Optimum streaming application, and when I got the call for this I though 'at last! a solution!', only to find out it only works on laptops.
Well, now to find a way to get this to work on a desktop. If there's a will, there's a way, no? :P |
|
 | reply to pa prowler ive been beta testing it sicne the start.. ya its laptop only.. if you try to install it on a PC, itll block you out saying you have an external monitor attached..(you wont be able to get the install file to even install it) same if u attach your laptop to a tv.. this is dedicated to laptop screens only... |

But yes, once installed it complains "Your account is not enabled for Optimum App for Laptop".
The app is written in silverlight or at least uses silverlight as a shell. Apps' internal name is 2139263213.optimumapp.iptv.optimum.net is that somebody's phone number? |

1 edit | reply to pa prowler Doesn't like VMWare Workstation *sniff* *must find workaround*
Edit: Lol, it's smart enough to detect the things I've tried, but once I find a work around I will post it. |

Get this message when I try to sign in. Anyone? Were you selected as a beta tester? Duh on me. Boy, do I feel like a horse's patoot. You'd think I'd've read that you had to be invited.
Thanks for the clarification. |
|
 | Don't feel bad. I tried it hoping I could sneak in. |

 | I'm still getting the "your account is not enabled for Optimum Laptop" error. |

 | reply to limegrass69 Doesn't work for me either says your account is not enabled. On their FAQ it mentions only available to those on Long Island.
I am in Dutchess County so maybe that explains it. |
|
 | reply to pa prowler I did not get an email about it. Just downloaded it from the link on this thread. Says my account is not enabled. I'm on Long Island. Hrmm |
