"Dr Mel" has passed away

NEW HAVEN—

Melvin Goldstein, the long-time meteorologist at WTNH-TV, has died, according to a report from the station.

Known widely as Dr. Mel, Goldstein was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a form of cancer, about 16 years ago.

Met him one while taking a tour of WTNH back in the early 90's. He did goof on the weather from time to time, like it was pouring rain outside the studio, while he was giving a weather forcast where he said it was a sunny day with no rain . He seemed like a nice guy. And its too bad that WTNH got rid of Jeff Fox too.
