[installer] Installed New Gear / WildBlue setup today!

We did our first official VS1100 and Surfbeam 2 (1IFL) install for a customer in Pinedale, WY today and it went amazingly smooth! Only running one wire to the modem now; peaking is a piece of cake compared to the "old way" with the APA's and analog meters; Modem locked right on; Provisioning has been extremely streamlined... The only hiccup we had was that the modem does not reboot when it says it will, we had to physically reboot it after it passed quality check.

Speed Tests were showing 1.5 down on average, but the customer was also in rain fade condition since it was snowing like crazy while we were doing the install. I was VERY impressed with this as "normal" rain fade is 256K down in this area... "Legacy" Customers are lucky to get 1.5 down on a clear sunny day!

We are keeping in touch with this customer and I will post stats once we get past the massive storm we are in...

Being on Anik F2 - Spotbeam 23, I assume, this was the 5 mbps package?

Did they use WB-1's spotbeams of 110/111 in your area?

Thanks for tidbits...

Correct, they were on the 5MB package, but they were actually assigned to Anik-F2-SB2, Beam Number 73... When I asked IR about this, they stated that they have assigned that specific beam to customers wanting the higher speed tiers in this market.

What was strange was that we didn't get any notice as to whether we had launched or not... The work order just showed up... Even our DST had not been given a straight answer as to when we would be doing these.

Syntax...its still Anik F2/23....feeding both protocols (DOCSIS & WiMax) on same 'stream' most likely.

Then WB-1 spots were not used in that area?
