Foxconn, Shenzen, and what goes on there

Happy to say I do not buy apple, yes foxconn makes tonsssss of other things but... at least I don't pay $600 for $200 of stuff (come on apple, you could pay a little more to have your stuff made and make a little less profit!)

A list of what foxconn makes wound be a nice addition, ib4 sockets mines a lotus =D

I'm going to listen to the rest of it tonight, I listened with my brother as he drove me home last night. Yesterday was a very trying day, my brother has a son with cancer, and the other son may have it too, now. I was over there fixing his recovering his data and fixing his computer.

Evidently the Foxconn factory houses 100's of thousands of workers? My gosh.

It's a huge, closed campus with it's own ecosystem. It's literally "16 Tons" in the modern day; they work, buy things from the factory store, and live in the Foxconn campus.

My "wife" in The Philippines worked for Mitsumi and the factory was nothing, from what I gather, like what they are building in Shenzen. (She was QC with floppy drive manufacture.) As little as she made, I think she made for than the workers in China, but I don't know that for a fact. I do know that where she lives, once you are past your mid twenties, jobs vaporize.

Well, consider that workers are as young as 12 years, worked up to 36+ hour shifts (that we know of so far), can go to jail for complaining about their job, and some employers withhold pay for months. Since many of these workers take the jobs to help their families and send the money home, not getting paid and having family suffer freaks them out, and the employers know this, and manipulate.

If we don't fight, worker standards may fall like this in America.
