[motherboard] Socket 478 board won't POST with an 2.6Ghz CPU

A friend just gave me his socket 478 system for something to work with and a couple of socket 478 CPU's.
It came with an 2.4Ghz Pentium 4 400FSB/256K and it runs okay but I would like to see if I an upgrade it with an 2.6Ghz Pentium 4 800FSB/512K chip. The motherboard manual and the Asus support site for CPU support says it can work with 1006 BIOS, so I put on the latest 1017 BIOS.
I put in the 2.6Ghz chip but the system wouldn't even POST and it just left me at a black screen.
If the motherboard supports that chip, why won't it POST?
The 2.6Ghz CPU will POST in other motherboards.

Motherboard: Asus P4P8X

RAM: 2GB Dual Channel DDR 400 (512MB x 4)

I found the solution, I had to use the RAM sticks with the black chips on one side and not the other side. That is very strange.
