Re: WCG Milestones and Climbers for 01/18/2012

You're not gonna believe this!!

Just since posting the above, the county has struck me again. Last time they were trimming trees by the road and instead they cut the cables to the TV/internet and telephone. Those people are truly dangerous.

This time they had a tractor/trimmer/grass cutter and instead cut my water line at the meter connection. The road was flooded and the meter was spinning about 900 mph. The water works checked it and said the county should have to fix, so he tracked down the county. Meanwhile, I have no water.

The county arrives and says the water works have to fix. What? The water works just said the county had to fix it? Oh we'll pay for it, but the water works has to fix. I told him they tore something up every time they get on the front of the property. Well it's just an accident, he,he,he...how nonchalant.

Yeah, they'll pay to fix it, he,he,he... but with our wasted tax dollars.

Update: Ha,ha...the water works has them same 2 county butts out there digging in the mud to fix the problem. I love it! Taxes may pay, but at least for once, they're having to get dirty for tearing stuff up.

They had to leave now, Lunch is from 11:30 to 1pm, before break time at 2-2:45, before tool clean-up at 3:15, before quitting time at 3:30. They don't do lunch and breaks at the job site like we do, they have to go to a restaurant. BTW, since I'm retired, I often see them at the coffee shop from 7-7:30 eating breakfast on our dime.

See lunch is an hour and breaks are 15 minutes, but ya get 15 minutes travel time each way. Ain't government work ducky? This is prolly an hour water works job or a 3 day county job and they won't work if it's cold or rainy. The other horror is whether the county can actually fix a water line without it leaking.

Meanwhile no water. What was it again that a bear does in the woods?

Want me to get out the purple whip & come whack them?

*sigh..sorry for your troubles there, Ray.

Sounds very similar to my area when they decide to do pre-hurricane tree trimming and cut all the lines

Update 2: The original 2 workers got back right on time at 1pm, but they sat in the truck until 1:25. Another truck of 2 arrived with 4 sticks of 20 foot long PVC, they only needed about 6 inches. 2 people worked for 15 minutes, while 2 supervised. Then they all 4 had a pow-wow until break time at 2pm. Those county workers move so fast, all you see is a blue streak.

I walked out at 2:45 to meet them. Turns out that the broken PVC connects to steel pipe. Rut-row, they couldn't handle that, so they had placed an emergency call for the county plumber. Although they knock-off at 3:30, they promised to stay until I had water. Musta needed some overtime.

The county plumber arrived at 3:01pm, then I had 6 worker bees. At 3:25 everyone was gone. Those guys fooled with that leak most of the day, but the county plumber fixed it in 20 minutes.

What a fiasco, now we don't have to behave like bears
