Whatever happened to SpeedMatching?

So... We've reached a decision on UBB.

But what the hell happened to speed matching?

Where is my 50/1Mbit Rogers Ultimate equivalent on TekSavvy!

Wasn't speed matching also to be decided along with UBB? -... We got screwed on UBB, and no speed matching too?!

There's rumors that Rogers only will offer the faster tiers on aggregated POI.

I don't think TekSavvy has that arranged with them yet.

Comical how Rogers remains so uncompetitive re: upstream speeds.

2005 called and wants it's uplink back.

I'm thinking with the way the billing will be done starting February, 50Mbit packages will be pretty expensive too...

Its part of the filings going on right now - CNOC is requesting clarification that the faster speeds can be put on non-aggregated POIs.

Faster upstream is coming, issue is allocating the channels and fixing up RF issues. Rogers says within 2 years all areas will have it.

I see, thx for the info. Though I don't see TSI offering those speeds on existing POI's for now, as they dont have the capacity right now and Rogers is behind on some POI upgrades by 2 months now.

I am personally looking forward to these upgrades. My honest view is that in two years Rogers will be offering upload speeds we see yesterday or today in other parts of the world: Netherlands, Sweden, France, Switzerland, Latvia, South Korea, USA, etc....

When we will see speeds on par is my question? (and I know that the answer will most likely be never)

Rogers' updated 2011-703 tariff pages have rates for all speeds up to 50Mbps on both aggregated and non-aggregated POIs.

TSI can't handle 24/1 bandwidth little own 50/1. I hope this speed never comes because they be congested even more since they don't upgrade POI's.

Ok, thats fine, but now I see 25mbps (vs 24) and still no 32mbps like Rogers has.

But wtf is up with the rates? $45 for 25mbps? That's more than what I pay for my 24/1 service (without taxes), and that's just what they charge to the ISP, not what I pay.

I'm pretty sure that the 15mbps tariff is the one being charged for 24mbps speed, and that the 25mbps tariff would be charged for 32mbps speed. Kind of ridiculous, obviously, but then it is Rogers..

Yeah, this document was drawn up b4 rogers changed the speeds.

10 is now 12
15 is now 24
25 is now 32

And that chart for $$ in the $40s is not relevant because that is for non-Aggregated POI. TSI will not put the higher tiers on non-a.

The Aggregated chart is:
End-User charge per modem – 0.5 Mbps Service $11.97
End-User charge per modem – 3 Mbps Service $12.31
End-User charge per modem – 10 Mbps Service $14.25
End-User charge per modem – 15 Mbps Service $19.06
End-User charge per modem – 25 Mbps Service $21.00
End-User charge per modem – 50 Mbps Service $22.69

Only $3 more to go from 24 to 50

In a typical scenario 2 mbps of upload is barely adequate to sustain the ACK stream for 50 mbps of download. Anything less on the upstream and the download speed would be literally unobtainable much of the time.

2 megs of upstream isn't really enough either. It is for the optimal case, yes, but when stuff gets messier, it doesn't give you enough headroom. It wasn't until Videotron went from 50/2 to 60/3 that I was finally able to use the connection properly in a reliable fashion.
