Re: Whatever happened to SpeedMatching? said by SimplePanda:said by Oinktastic:I think you mean 50/2Mbit Don't short-change yourself! Comical how Rogers remains so uncompetitive re: upstream speeds. 2005 called and wants it's uplink back. 1997 rogers 700Kilobytes down and 400kilobytes up thats around 3 megabit upload....YA gone way down hill since |

 | reply to Neozonz "Existing Customers of Rogers TPIA Service with Disaggregated POIs may maintain service at their current POI locations on a grandfathered basis until November 15, 2013 at the latest" Therefore, all TPIA grandfathered plans (poi based) will be discontinued Nov15-2013, and are required to switch to aggregated.
To TSI Marc or R0CKY. Since rogers has forced this model on us, what are your plans for the switch to aggregated? Both methods very shortly will provide essentially the same service since rogers will be removing their throttling shortly. Any money back for teksavvy during the interim while they work to upgrade the poi´s?
No upgrades because of the cost, modified upgrades due to the cost, switch to aggregated asap? |

 | reply to bbhog said by bbhog:Yeah, this document was drawn up b4 rogers changed the speeds.
10 is now 12 15 is now 24 25 is now 32
And that chart for $$ in the $40s is not relevant because that is for non-Aggregated POI. TSI will not put the higher tiers on non-a.
The Aggregated chart is: End-User charge per modem 0.5 Mbps Service $11.97 End-User charge per modem 3 Mbps Service $12.31 End-User charge per modem 10 Mbps Service $14.25 End-User charge per modem 15 Mbps Service $19.06 End-User charge per modem 25 Mbps Service $21.00 End-User charge per modem 50 Mbps Service $22.69
Only $3 more to go from 24 to 50 And current prices for poi based (note the pdf contains an N beside the 0.5, 25, & 50 for what bbhog noted)
3.i) Basic Monthly End-User Charge (per End-User End-User charge per modem 0.5 Mbps Service ;$18.19 End-User charge per modem 3 Mbps Service; $15.42 End-User charge per modem 10 Mbps Service; $20.24 End-User charge per modem 15 Mbps Service; $25.61 End-User charge per modem - 25 Mbps Service; $45.49 End-User charge per modem 50 Mbps Service; $64.99 Previous people noted this before, to get the 50 mbit service on poi based, the price would be an arm and a leg.
Tek charges 46.95 for 24/1/300 (the 15). Approx $21 profit before data. Factoring in if a user uses 300GB that would cost $15 assuming a gb transfer costs 5 cents a gb (approx, quick base from here »aws.amazon.com/ec2/pricing/, probably wrong but not far off).
Taking maybe $15 profit because they probably pay much less, closer to $0.01/gb.
Offering 32 would cost like $65 and 50 like $85. |

Taking maybe $15 profit because they probably pay much less, closer to $0.01/gb. Not "profit", but "markup". Most of which undoubtedly goes into the costs of providing (often poor) connectivity to the internet beyond the Rogers "first mile". Plus email, news, tech support, admin, etc.
Not (even mostly) "profit". |
