Both universalmusic.com and justice.gov went down on Thursday afternoon, less than hours after it was revealed that Megaupload had been brought down by federal authorities and four people linked to the site, all outside of America, were arrested and charged with a conspiracy related to copyright infringement. » rt.com/usa/news/anonymou ··· opa-235/UPDATE: Recording Industry Association of America website » riaa.com goes offline. Wow, the DOJ. That's huge. I'm surprised our Government hasn't come out yet, calling Anon a terrorist organization. |

There's a report about the FBI detaining employees at Cogent Communications headquarters in Wash DC. quote: Data centers in the Netherlands, Canada and Washington housing MegaUploads equipment were raided.
In an apparent reference to the latter location, a source has just informed TorrentFreak that the FBI are currently detaining everyone at the ISP Cogent Communications headquarters in Washington DC, in connection with a Mega-related search warrant.

Most still down. Sure looks like they're effective.
Somebody better get their ducks in a row!
I mean if a group, with seemingly relative ease, can take down anyone at any time, then something is seriously wrong.
And they're not even "bad" guys.
Wait till you're enemies start doing the same.
(Which brings me to the recent Israeli topic where I've been meaning to say, that while Anon may fight with "words", Israel [or any other country/entity, the US included] will fight back with bullets, given the [covert, or not] opportunity.) |

At least Wikipedia is back up today . Low Orbit Ion Cannon (LOIC) is an open source network stress testing and denial-of-service attack application, written in C#. LOIC was initially developed by Praetox Technologies, but later it was released into the public domain.[1] LOIC named after a fictional weapon in the Command & Conquer series of video games.[2] The Ion Cannon was first popularized in the original Star Wars movies. Ion Cannons were used for orbital defense against low orbit Star Destroyers on Hoth in The Empire Strikes back. The software has inspired the creation of an independent JavaScript version, enabling a DoS from a web browser. (There I go again, quoting in violation of SOPA, damn!) |

NV First off... Go Anon. Second. that has got to suck that the FBI can detain you even though you never committed a crime, But I guess working for a company that hosted Megaupload is a crime. |

It is not surprising that they were able to do this. A government official said recently that it would take 10 or 15 years to make government networks secure. It seems to be a low priority for government, lower than passing sweeping laws and arresting people. |

Users should be tankful that Anon hasn't targeted the DNS servers to prove their point against SOPA. Even if it was just 1 hour around the time everyone gets home from work and school. I don't think they could do something of that magnitude though... |

Occasional Anon talking head Barrett Brown is reportedly appearing on Moscow TV @ 10P CST to discuss the details of Operation Donkey Punch. He's on currently on a TinyChat Vid feed, which I muted because he sounds like he's typing on an IBM 5150 keyboard. NV |

Down for me. Actually that's a different site then what I was aware of. "MegaUpload" == » megavideo.bz/ (never heard or knew of them) This is what I consider "Megaupload" (similar to Rapidshare): "Megaupload.com" == » www.megaupload.com/ (though they look to be down too?) » dnsw.info/megaupload.com» dnsw.info/megaupload.bz>? |

The Justice Dept. says: quote: The department is working to ensure the website is available while we investigate the origins of this activity... ..which is being treated as a malicious act until we can fully identify the root cause of the disruption.
They also said: quote: DOJ commemorates World AIDS Day. »go.usa.gov/5kn

Now you can stop laughing at my comments.
Thank you Anon for showing everyone the RIGHT way to get Universal Music Group, RIAA, Motion Picture Association of America and Warner Music Group among others to piss off in addition to making it clear the US government better get back to being 'of the people and for the people' rather than the paid lackies of Hollywood.
I'd appreciate it if Anon could publish the names and addresses of all the corporate swine that run these organizations too. After all, I want to know precisely who it is dislike so much. Accuracy is everything eh.
It's sad Megaupload had to 'take it for the team' eh. They have basically stood in front of a shot for the internet.
I don't think Anon is going to do anything threatening like compromise major national defense sites. I like to think Anon is a lot brighter than that.
But this applause is for Anon. Well done !! |

The last PR guy didn't; the one who was facing off that Mexican syndicate. From what I see what he's doing is as illegal as what I'm doing right now - advocating for and reporting on the activities of the group. |
