Re: Is this a good gaming rig?

With the price of SSDs right now, I'd shoot for a 120G SSD for around $109, if you were goign to go that route.

I've been watching SSD's for a 120/128 gb units myself and none are that cheap that I can find. The best is $129.99 which is about normal at the $1/gb level. If you know of a place that's under $1/gb I'd be interested myself.

Not a very good troll rofl, ya you talking about yourself?

You think geek squad is good, and I am the one trolling rofl.

Then you like a referb and compare it to a new pc price wise...

I know lets compare a used car to a new one!

Okay rite whatever not gona waste my time, you go call up GS when you run into issues lol.

No one said anything about geek squad being good or bad. Where did you get that from btw? That's right it's another troll. I can understand you're upset about something but you need to learn how to direct and express it correctly.

And as Kris said: Refurbished is the process of restoring something to NEW condition. They typically are discounted and don't come with the same warranty for legal reasons but the item is certified the same as a new item physically.

FYI: Cars aren't even a close match to compare to a PC. Bad anology like apples to oranges.

None right now, but I get Newegg's promo emails and a couple days ago they had a 120GB for $109 after rebate. Just got to watch the Shellshockers.

My crack at it. If you want the thing to FLY, add a 64GB Crucial M4 SSD (another $100) for the boot drive and be amazed.

I like this, and I like the idea of a SSD too.....this would be pretty awesome.

Gaming, no, 6570 is lol for gaming. My OLD gpu is 3x as fast. A new mid cheap range nvidia (aint big on amd's) 3x as fast. and new faster gpus are coming out now-march.

Pre built is pretty much *never* good for games.

No you can not just change the card, we would need to know the PSU size, it is likely sized for that system, not for a larger card. So now you are looking at likely a gpu + psu on a locked down system (i7 really only need an i5 but, "K" sku can reach an "easy" 4.5ghz clock.)

If you give a budget, maybe exact games, if you would like to overclock or not / build your own or not we can find you a good pc.

That computer is ok for gaming as long as he doesn't expect much.

Or wait for a Newegg sale + MIR and get it for around $60.

Almost 3 gen old BUDGET card... over 2x well pretty much 3x as powerful as the 6570...

So no it is not okay for gaming, unless you expect to *not* game. rofl.

Almost any video that's made within the last few years will work for gaming. The question is what are you expecting out of it? If you don't mind running on the lowest graphic settings and still possibly getting some video lag then you're all set. My 2nd pc does just fine with a 4670. It can play SWTOR, WoW, SC2, and anything. Sure the graphics on games are turned to the lowest and yea there's some video lag once in a blue moon. It's to be expected but all things taken into account it worked damn good for what it is.

I usually frown at your trolls, but you're right. The rig in the OP has been shown as thoroughly inadequate for gaming and the OP has since had several theoretical builds posted to him.

People need to stop rezzing dormant threads, ignoring the entire ensuing discussion, and reply directly to the OP. ^.^

Not really. If you are trying to game and have a reasonably enjoyable experience at it (as in, there is a difference between "can work" and "can work well"), I wouldn't recommend anything under AMD's X700 series (or unless it's a 6600 paired with an FX iGPU) or under Nvidia's X50/X55 series (as in, less than 550/555, etc.).

You don't normally set out to build a gaming machine and then say "but I'm ok with everything being turned down all the way so it's playable."

Hell, my i3-550 with its iGPU *can* play games. We're not talking about what's possible, but what's recommended.

Re: Is this a good gaming rig?

Aw look I'm in your sig! where is a heart emoticon. I would cut off the first part however...

"never argue with an idiot as they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience" looks a whole lot more clean... anyway.

Last time I checked, a "sports car" was not a 120hp car with 6 speed

A gaming pc is not a pc that "just barely plays" games...

I mean if that is the case almost every car on the road = sports car...

A gaming pc is the same as a sports car... it runs AHEAD of the pack not with it.

O ya Kris

Also do look up what troll means »www.urbandictionary.com/define.p···rm=troll

Ya sadly seeing as 99% of my posts contain useful info however are not posted while walking on eggshells it does not constitute a troll ty for caring!

Kinda funny could you picture someone saying like OMG I just got this band brand new sports car... and pulling up with a 4 door honda accord? Nothing against the accord but... a sports car? lol NSX baby.

Edit: Derping

You just manage to put every piece of useful information you convey in a trolling fashion.

As in, you can agree with me and sound like a troll.
