 | WORST Customer Service Ever! HORRIBLE live chat support. Took forever to get someone, then they did not seem to have any idea how to solve the problem. The chat lasted more than 30 minutes with very long pauses between communications. I am returning my Magic Jack Plus and getting my credit card reimbursed. When Magic Jack says "Tell Your Friends", you bet I will. I could NEVER recommend Magic Jack to anyone - ever - with such loousy support. The advertisement says that you can use the Magic Jack Plus without a computer. Well, you can't. The customer service person said it must be conneted to my modem or router, which is connected to my computer. False advertising, I'd say. What a waste and a disappointment! |

1 edit | It only needs to be connected to "A" PC to register it and get your phone number. Then it connects to your router, sans PC. Since this forum and others online are here to help you, maybe if you posted your problem instead of complaining. someone here could have helped you..

 | Come on people, after reading the complaints in this forum, I think most of the users are to blame - not magic jack. What do you expect for $69/ $39 year (mj+). This is still a technology product and you have to have a little knowledge and common sense. I purchased a 1st generation magic jack to determine its limitations and decided it wasn't a viable choice for me given the mjs operating parameters. When the mj+ came out, I researched the product and it works exactly as advertised. I ported my landline number and by-passed my PC and am currently fully satisfied. |

Joe, I have noticed a few interesting things in these forums, and it's not unique to the MJ forum. There seem to be a lot of anonymous posters that just come on and beak off about something that's bitten their backsides, and don't seem to want any help to clear their problem.
The other thing I have noticed is people are seeming to need more and more highly detailed instructions and "hand holding" on how to do a simple chore "x".
Regarding MJ, Have used them since early 2009. Never had to call them for their "tech support". Maybe I'm fortunate. The product gives me far better call quality than a free system that starts with "S". People cannot tell if I'm on MJ or the POTS.
People are also beaking off about the "40-50% price increase". They have held their prices for 5 years! Maybe that's part of the problem. Take a small annual increase, rather than a big hit every 4-5 years
In the '08-'12 period, my lousy POTS LD plan went up 32%, my POTS phone 17% ... so far. |

 | And a lot of them don't even try to trouble shoot themselves ( which is in fact the way you learn!!) I agree with you 100%. Just like in todays society people want things handed to them, no thanks. I rather do it myself ( or try too) and learn in the process. If I cant figure it out, then I look for forums and do a search FIRST ( so many think they are the ONLY ones having that particular problem, when they are not). If after all that then I make a post asking for help in pointing me in the right direction. I got my MJ in Aug 2008, the only 3 times I contacted MJ tech support ( HA) was to have my voice mail reset. Other than that never had a problem with it. Of course you will always have someone who calls tech support about their PC or whatever not working only to find out they lost power an hr ago!! I do try to help people here and on another few forums but when I see people not even bothering to read the damn post right below where they posted with the same exact problem AND solution, I just shake my head and sigh. Sometimes I bite my tongue and sometimes I don't -- Joe Sica |
