tmh @comcastbusiness.net | SOPA is dead, long live SOPA There's too much attention on SOPA. It will die and get reincarnated with another name. It might even get written into some must-pass piece of legislation. |

 | Or Lamar Smith's upcoming Protecting Children From Online Pornography Act. Act's name is from memory, but it's basically that. Then, any opponents will be asked: "So, you SUPPORT having kids exposed to porn?!!" -- -Jason Levine |

 | Yup. It's not assured that Lamar Smith will sneak it in there, but it's a definite possibility. Anything with "terrorist" or "child porn" in it is an almost guaranteed pass since nobody wants to be viewed as weak on those issues. So celebrate the victory, but don't think for a second that the war is over! -- -Jason Levine |

COPA, SOPA. Not much creativity here. |

Nope, COPA is a bill from the 90s to force website owners to get parental consent for children to use their services amongst other crazy bs. it has been dead for years due to judicial review taking issues with it. |

 | reply to kxrm You're thinking of the "Protecting Children From Online Pornographers act". It really should be illegal to give a bill such a loaded name, who would even vote against that? It didn't even have anything to do with children or porn, it just gave ICE the ability to seize domains belonging to people in other countries. |
