EdrickI aspire to tell the story of a lifetimePremium join:2004-09-11 Woburn, MA | New Office Toy Just got a Konica Minolta C280 in the office, waiting for the service technician to come and install it. Nothing like waiting around all day, but hey we got a killer deal on a unit that normally sells for 11k. Got it with the Saddle Stitcher too, it's like being a kid at christmas, except you can't assemble the toy yourself and have to wait for someone. |

 | Very nice! |

EdrickI aspire to tell the story of a lifetimePremium join:2004-09-11 Woburn, MA | reply to Edrick Anyone familiar with how to setup email scanning on this guy, so I can send an email from the unit from a scan. Do I need to create a valid email account and configure it on the machine? |

on ours we have it set so that if the exchange server is receiving it from the subnet that the printer is in then it doesn't require auth and can use any fake address you want
if you want SMTP auth then it can be setup
the ldap method can work for easy listing of addresses but if you have a large AD with tons of users but only a few that'll actually use the machine then its easier to just setup the address book
for the address book I just set one up on the machine (or via the web interface) then use the web interface to export it, then use excel to edit the csv file
then I can get real picky and do extra to organize the names
only problem I have is that if you have both FTP destinations and e-mail then it'll complain when an E-mail tries to overwrite an FTP and vise versa (easily fixed by deleting them both and then re-importing the file)
btw first thing I'd do is set the IP then do the rest from the web interface, they did give you the admin password right?
btw while we don't have that exact model we use 3 konicas a C360, Bizhub 421, and a Bizhub 423
the exported CSV files of the address book while similar are not interchangeable |

EdrickI aspire to tell the story of a lifetimePremium join:2004-09-11 Woburn, MA | It's a small office, me and a partner. So no local exchange / LDAP setup, our email is hosted off site on a Zimbra setup. So we're just using local address book on the unit. I do have the admin password and am in the web access, just wasn't sure how the machine needed to be setup for email scanning. |

DarkLogixPremium join:2008-10-23 Baytown, TX kudos:3 1 edit | Well if you use an external e-mail host then you might have to setup smtp auth and for that it might need a real e-mail address
but thats upto whats required to get mail into the zimbra system
how do you currently connect to it?
Do you connect via POP, SMTP, ect? if you use SMTP to send mail from your client program then you should be able to do something similer on the konica |

| reply to Edrick You need to have a reply email in the maintenance section, any email address will do here including nonsense ones. Then reboot the device. You have to have a valid IP address or host name for the SMTP email setting and a valid (admin) password re-entered any time you make changes in that section of the web interface. No reboot needed in this section of the admin interface. If the email scan fails, go to Job log>scan>scan history, you highlight the latest scan job, then press Details. The display will give you hints as to the problem with the scan. Please note the type of email server is important (easiest using Exchange) and some outsourced email services can be problematic. The default is sent to port 25. |

| reply to Edrick We have a fleet of the Bizhub line, they're good solid machines -- several of the 253/35x lines, a C550, and a 920 Pro (BW only). We're actually evaluating pricing and getting proposals on replacements right now since most of them are coming up to the end of their lease.
Everyone else (Xerox, Canon, Sharp) kind of makes Konica's interface look a bit clunky. Some of the new generation machines are like using an IPAD. But that stuff doesn't really count, we've had good service and overall good reliability from Konica. -- I love the Green Bay Packers. /facepalm |

DarkLogixPremium join:2008-10-23 Baytown, TX kudos:3 | reply to Edrick btw make sure that its on a good surge protector
of the 3 we have (leased) 2 are on surge protectors and 1 isn't the one thats not incures the most service calls
though the company its leased from is suppost to provide the surge protector and repair it if anything goes wrong
so ya that one they've been out for a few times after just about any storm that makes the lights flicker, so they're suppost to be getting a surge protector for that one
the other 2 don't break down |

EdrickI aspire to tell the story of a lifetimePremium join:2004-09-11 Woburn, MA | reply to jester121 Konicas interface is klunky? Unless those three guys completely redesigned their interface the bizhub (to me) blows them out of the water. |
|
jester121Premium join:2003-08-09 Lake Zurich, IL | As I said, the screens on the others are like an IPAD app. The Bizhub interface is like using any other copier from the last 15 years. -- I love the Green Bay Packers. /facepalm |

| The Sharp is probably the fanciest we've seen, »www.sharpusa.com/ForBusiness/Doc···iew.aspx
As I recall on the models we looked at there's no physical numeric keypad or other buttons, it's all touch. There's a slide-out small qwerty keyboard for entering text faster too.
Canon was pretty fancy too:

As I said, this is all "nice to have" stuff, but it does make the Konica screens look a bit dated. -- I love the Green Bay Packers. /facepalm |
|
DarkLogixPremium join:2008-10-23 Baytown, TX kudos:3 | what all touch? I prefer the buttons and touchscreen on the konicas here over a full touch interface
oh well some day we'll get forced into using sharps |
