[OOL] Swapped modem, still resets approx every 10 mins when dl'i

Can't download files of any significant size without having disconnects and modem recycles, and it happens during typical usage too. Just swapped old modem (which I thought was the problem) for a new one at an Optimum Store, having same problems. Help please

Will post any required info!

Have you tried having a tech visit? If you can reproduce the problem when they are there they should be able to fix it. My guess is signal or noise issue.

That seems like a good idea. It's def reproducible, happens everytime I try to download a game I bought off Steam. Disconnected 3-4 times just in the past 30 minutes.

If your modem supports it, go to »192.168.100.1/ and find the Signal levels. Post the downstream, upstream, and Signal to Noise numbers.

While a tech visit might ultimately be needed, consider posting here:

Your information can only be seen by you and OOL techs. Provide your account # and modem MAC address and they can do some diagnostics remotely.

I feel your pain. I got this all day last summer except in the mornings (sometimes it would happen then too). Seeing has how it was speediest and not dropping as much in mornings as in the evenings, it must be a congestion thing. But I am not certain.

Well temperature changes can have some effect on signals. High temperatures mean slightly poorer signals or more amplification. Summer = higher temperature. Mornings = lower temperature. So while congestion certainly is a possibility, it might also be a problem due to the higher temp such as an amp which has a problem at a higher temps.
