mario64 join:2004-01-13 Kingsport, TN | E4200 QoS bug I recently started using a viop phone for my home office and want to enable the QoS feature on my E4200 to give it highest priority. As noted here, »Re: Linksys E4200 new firmware Ver.1.0.02 (Build 13) and here »homecommunity.cisco.com/t5/Wirel···ht/false there is a known bug with the upload bandwith auto-detect which causes your upload speed to drop significantly. Setting it to manual using a value 2-3 times the actual upload upload speed seems to resolve it. My question is won't doing that break QoS since it needs an accurate max upload value in order to work correctly?
Thanks in advance for any help!

To answer your question -- YES QoS does need accurate values in order to properly prioritize bandwidth utilization. I would leave the setting in the Auto position and only make changes IF you are actually having VoIP problems with your Phone. -- David Mozer IT-Expert on Call Information Technology for Home and Business |

 | reply to mario64 From my experience, setting QoS to "Auto" seemed to work fine with our Ooma VoIP device. We experienced no related issues with the current firmware (1.0.03), and I believe that was also true for firmware version 1.0.02. -- Hope this helps... |
