Radio Shack prices on items that are made in China

I just can't believe how much Radio Shack charging for a computer accessories that are made In China. For instance i was at Radio Shack checking out the prices, and i saw a generic mouse (not a name brand), and they want $19.95!! for it. WTF??

Yes i know Radio Shack is a bit high on the prices, but charging $19.95 for a $6 items is overkill.

If you think that's bad, you've never been in a cell phone shop. I paid $30 at a Verizon Wireless store for an iPhone/iPod/iPad/???? sync cable a few months ago when I had no other option.

I haven't seen any company in the last 15 years that is not ripping off the customers!
Look at Apple for an example, they work chinese people 16 hours a day and only pay them $0.70 an hour , then turn around and sell you an iPad or iPhone for $400.00!

Monoprice.com

They have pretty fair prices IMO.

Looking for a cheap mouse? Here : Generic 5 button mouse with DPI Adjustment... 4.95$

Does cellphoneshack even sell that kind of stuff anymore?
I know last time i went there for a 7 segment display, they didn't have anything like that but they had everything under the sun for cellphones and satellite stuff.

Shipping pretty much kills any savings.

Not true, unless you always select next day delivery.

Take this crimp tool :

I bought -exactly- the same before in a local store (without the monoprice tag). They cost me about 20$ and it's the cheapest I could find.

Ordered on monoprice and shipped to Canada = 12$.

I haven't seen any mega size RadioShacks, so they probably have no or little loss leaders and price accordingly just to pay the rent.

Both prices are excluding GST / QST (our VAT over here).

In the local store (I went on their website and confirmed the price is 19.95$) I'll have to pay an additionnal 15% for GST / QST.

On Monoprice.com, no sales taxes.

(But legally I would have to tell the government "hey, I bought for X$ of stuff that was not taxed by the seller this year" so that in the end I do pay the sales taxes, but I don't know how to do it and don't know anyone who do it...)

It depends on your metric of value. I worked for Radio Shack for a little while, and I had loyal customers.

At a Radio Shack store, normally you get waited on right away, or fairly quickly, and they have a program to educate their workers on the technologies that they market. They hired me because I had studied electronics and was into computers. My customers bought from me and I made sure that they got good deals, The Shack does have good deals, and some things are indeed marked up too high, but that pays for the fact that employees are actually there to help you, like the old days.

Walk into a BB and see if you get that kind of service unless you are buying a large ticket item, and if you do, they will harass you to buy overpriced cables.

Also, Radio Shack was always pretty good about returns and warranties when I worked for them.

I haven't been in a store in a decade, so I don't know if they have changed...
