[Wired] Better Upload Speeds Using the E4200?

I had a modem bridged to the E4200. I am on a 40/20 plan with CenturyLink and was only getting 34/15.5

I got another modem, a ZyXel Q1000z, and bridged it to the E4200. I ran a speedtest, and am now getting 37.4/12.4. So, my d/l speed increased by over 3 megs, and my u/l speed decreased by 3 megs.

Other than by changing the MTU setting, which never seems to work for me, is there any other setting I can change on the E4200 to boost the u/l speed? I'd be totally happy to get back to 15.5 u/l with the d/l speed I'm now getting. This test is done while wired to the E4200. Thanks.

U need to contact your provider and have them TEST your line ... You should be getting very close to 38/18 so 37/17 is very good and ur getting 37/12 so something is wrong ... in ur case I suspect that the ISP needs to do some adjustment.

Make sure that you run at least 5 test and see what the average is. Reboot the ZyXel Q1000z after each test and see if the re-sync made any impact on the results.

There is nothing that U can do to tweak the E4200 -- its as tweaked as it going to be on the WAN to WAN side

BTW, which version of the E4200 do U have [v1 or v2]?

I have v1 of the E4200. I also have the most recent firmware. I have already been in contact with my ISP. I hear everything from there is congestion in the area, to the line in my apartment has a problem, but they cannot fix it. I have no way to know what the problem is. I just have to deal with it. It would be nice to get 38/18, but at least I'm getting over 37 d/l.

I think that you're on VDSL2 [PPPOE] so its important that you reboot after each test and see if that improves the result -- why reboot the ZyXel? to re-sync and that can improve how the ZyXel 'hears'.

I have a question...Since I am having an issue with my upload speeds, under QoS, "Internet Access Priority" is disabled. Also "Upstream Bandwidth" is set to Auto at 0Kbps. Would adjusting the Upstream Bandwidth give me a higher upload speed?

Did you take my advise and reboot the zyXel modem?

U could play with QoS and see if that helps U .. I do not believe it will because IMO its ur ISP that's causing the problem assuming that multiple reboots of your ZyXel does not solve the problem due to poor line syncing.

I did reboot the modem....It didn't help. I asked CL to re-provision me to 40/5, for you are 100% correct, it is on my ISP end. It should work fine with 5 Megs upload. Thanks for your help.
