Re: [General] PhonePower down? Dial your Phone Power phone number and wait for the VoiceMail to answer the call.
Once the VoiceMail system answers the call, dial the Star * key.
You will prompted for your PIN. |

The strange thing is why their fax number wouldn't pick up.
They use a totally outside company for their fax service.
EDIT: Ah, apparently they don't anymore. |

I had forgotten that PhonePower has a sub-forum here (aka cover forum) where lots more people reported being down:
»PhonePower down?
»PhonePower Down?
(Two different threads!)

There was a hardware failure early this morning causing registration and website issues. Engineers have located and corrected the issue. »twitter.com/PPowerNetStatus |

| reply to jonk6 It looks like PhonePower removed two threads from their forum where users discussed the outage (post factum, since during the outage the website was down as well)...
If that is indeed the case - I consider it big time shenanigans, worse than the outage itself. It tells me that the company is not going to learn from their mistakes, but rather wants to sweep the problem under the rug!
As they say in politics since Watergate, the crime wasn't as bad as the cover-up! |

The only thing I see now is this one statement on a locked thread. »www.phonepower.com/forum/topic.php?id=447
There's no shame in not being able to stay up all the time, it has happened to most providers at some time or another.
Certainly the outage was not a secret to those affected.
I also appreciate your use of the term post factum! |

| reply to jonk6 yep; that post showed up after my post here and after (not saying because of!) a chat with support person.
While I think the outage gave some "lessons learned" (e.g., system and website should be architected so they don't go down simultaneously) - the bigger problem was the response (or lack thereof)! And now what looks like a prima facie cover-up. Sad!

Yes, threads "Not able to make any phone call" »www.phonepower.com/forum/topic.php?id=442 and "What happened to the phone service?" »www.phonepower.com/forum/topic.php?id=440 appear to have been deleted.
I agree that it's not that big a deal to have a service outage, but in this case it seems to have revealed a rather significant single point of failure. |

| reply to jonk6 Phone Power made a right decision and restored the threads. In the long history of mea culpa (most recent being Bank of America and Netflix) it's a minor step. That said, I am glad that they did, and whatever my small role was in the process - I am happy to be part of that decision... |

I wouldn't say necessarily so. Perhaps the PP mods very strongly disagreed with the quote so they took the thread down
