It looks like PhonePower removed two threads from their forum where users discussed the outage (post factum, since during the outage the website was down as well)...
If that is indeed the case - I consider it big time shenanigans, worse than the outage itself. It tells me that the company is not going to learn from their mistakes, but rather wants to sweep the problem under the rug!
As they say in politics since Watergate, the crime wasn't as bad as the cover-up! |

If that is so, I think that's unfortunate. The only thing I see now is this one statement on a locked thread. » www.phonepower.com/forum ··· p?id=447There's no shame in not being able to stay up all the time, it has happened to most providers at some time or another. Certainly the outage was not a secret to those affected. I also appreciate your use of the term post factum! |

yep; that post showed up after my post here and after ( not saying because of!) a chat with support person. While I think the outage gave some "lessons learned" (e.g., system and website should be architected so they don't go down simultaneously) - the bigger problem was the response (or lack thereof)! And now what looks like a prima facie cover-up. Sad! said by PX Eliezer704:I also appreciate your use of the term post factum! Thank you |

Yes, threads "Not able to make any phone call" » www.phonepower.com/forum ··· p?id=442 and "What happened to the phone service?" » www.phonepower.com/forum ··· p?id=440 appear to have been deleted. I agree that it's not that big a deal to have a service outage, but in this case it seems to have revealed a rather significant single point of failure. |

As of this moment at least, those threads are available in the Google cache: » webcache.googleuserconte ··· irefox-a» webcache.googleuserconte ··· irefox-a |

Phone Power made a right decision and restored the threads. In the long history of mea culpa (most recent being Bank of America and Netflix) it's a minor step. That said, I am glad that they did, and whatever my small role was in the process - I am happy to be part of that decision... |

I wouldn't say necessarily so. Perhaps the PP mods very strongly disagreed with the quote so they took the thread down -m |

said by ymhee_bcex:Phone Power made a right decision and restored the threads. Agreed. But I don't understand their apparent reluctance to discuss the incident. They've said yeah, we had an outage. Well of course you did. Everybody knows that. Why not be open about what happened. Tell us what may be done to prevent it from happening again in the future or come right out and say that it's only the second (planned or unplanned) downtime incident in more than 2 years and that's acceptable. The begrudging acknowledgement followed by "thread closed" response is more unsettling to me than the outage itself. And I won't even bring up the attitude of PP forum senior member "thepcguru". Oh wait, I just did! |
