Re: [General] Skype-to-Skype, Nettalk-to-Nettalk, GV-to-GV said by Dan_voip:said by mrdally204:This is great information. Can someone give fail safe (as close as one can be) settings. Being that it is being sent a distance, getting it right the first time is important. Don't set up a fixed IP address, leave it on DHCP. If you have an ATA on which you can setup 2 providers take 2 pairs of free accounts with 2 different providers, if 1 will have problems you can use the other one. Do some tests with 1 ATA in a friend's house. Hey Dan (and others): Setting this up for my friend in China. Other than Callcentric, which other Provider would you recommend for free/reliable SIP-URI calling incoming and outgoing? |

| If you go on the Obi route you can use Obi network to call each other and even setup a Google Voice account on each end who will give you even more options. Another good provider with free calls in the network is Voip.ms but I'm not sure if you have to have some founds on the account in order to call each other. |

Also there is a small fee for a virtual SIP number at Voip.MS (25 cents a month and 1/10th cent per minute). »wiki.voip.ms/article/SIP_URI#Rec···_SIP_URI |

If, for example, you choose to use Callcentric, explore their website. They have very comprehensive "set-up/how-to" instructions for just about any ATA. Pictures, even! Planning on spa2102s on both ends calling with Callcentric. 1 United States, the other Philippians. Will there be any special changes needed due to international(better ports to use, ect). That I don't know, as I have never attempted exactly what you are trying to do. My guess is that it is sufficicient for each side to be able to reliably register with Callcentric.
In the situation I have described, I use a PAP2T-NA, and my friend is using an HT-286. Neither of us has done anything with the ATAs beyond what is recommended by Callcentric for use with their service (and CC has comprehensive set-up information for both device. I'm sure it does for the SPA as well). But, in my case, both of us are in the US. |

That allows more provider flexibility---for example, a Localphone customer dialing an iNum to reach a CC customer, all for free.
Here's the iNums from Localphone. Yes, they are free, though the language is a bit muddled. »www.localphone.com/incoming_numbers/inum |

No, and I'd just use the CallCentric 1777xxxxxxx numbers to freely call back and forth. |

 | reply to TimDan I was just thinking the suggestion that was made for a backup provider. So, it looks like Callcentric is the only one to give a free number and free minutes in/out? |
