Shutting it off was the right thing to do until it's diagnosed correctly.

If there's no pressure, an engine will get noisy as hell. Was it rattling badly?

Perhaps the oil pressure sending unit failed? How's the oil level? Punctured pan?

No odd noises sounded fine. Its dark out but I did look underneath didn't see any signs of oil in the snow. I've never had it leak oil what so ever in the past.

But, did you check the dipstick?

May as well wait for daylight to suss it all out. Not much else to do right now... except have a couple of drinks, and chill.

Yea it'll have to wait until morning. Paid it off in september so I knew something was around the corner.

Check the sensor wire for corrosion in the morning as well. Have a multi-meter?

While I wouldn't know it specifically by sight, I would look for that, or similar. Of course, a manual would help for the values when checking it on the meter.

It's a darn good place to start.

Mine is always in the truck. Never know when you'll need it, and usually it's when you're far, far away...

Unscrew oil pressure sensor.
Screw in MANUAL gauge.

See what is really going on before spinning wheels in wrong direction.

After rechecking oil again in the daylight it wasn't showing on stick. This is what I found. Snows melting and its hard to investigate any more right now. Its a high pressure hose from the looks of it and looks to head toward the front oil cooler I'm guessing? I found the sending unit which is just out of picture and located a little higher up and bone dry.

Replace the oil in it, start it and see if that line is leaking.

Doesn't look like a easy re and re on the puppy!

Something major must have been knocked loose because I don't burn/lose any oil in this van at all. I hate to do it but I cant fit it into my garage so I have to take it in.

That line looks like it is from the power steering pump and it appears to be the P/S pressure hose leaking at the crimp.

A power steering pump on the bottom of an engine? I don't think I've ever seen that on a car since there is usually a reservoir on top with (relatively) easy access to fill.

How cold is it outside?
and whats the weight of the oil?

I believe on my BMW the PS reservoir is on top to fill but the pump itself is well down below...

Odd that does seem to be the power steering pump as mentioned. I checked the ps fluid its on the lower side of the OK zone in the hash marks but definitely not that low. I've never noticed a squeel or anything when turning. I added a quart and a half of 5w20 per ford and I'm showing pressure again. Which makes me think the sending unit is still wonky. Dunno where I'm losing oil its been 5months since I changed it but I've put maybe 2500 miles on it. So its due, but it doesn't smoke and thats the only wet spot on the engine I can see. Even a quart and a half low the oil pressure gauge shouldn't bottom out like that I wouldn't think. I'm going to clean up that area posted in the picture and keep a close eye on it along with checking engine oil the next few days.

The sensor is RIGHT next the oil filter on that motor. Mine failed at 230k so its not unheard of. I'd just replace it as its not a hard thing to do.
