[AZ] The Letter (7)

007.wav 54,956 bytes
Looks like its time
Got the rate hike letter today. looks like AZ is still the high score for the cable game. broadcast basic going to $25/mo[when i first got cox this was 8.50/mo!!1]

expanded basic going from $35 to $35.80/mo.
slush fund contribution aka advanced tv[aka digital gateway] going from $3 to $1.80.
SD RECEIVER box / dvr box $6.50 to $6.99/mo.

tv paks: doesn't appear we're getting the love other markets are getting on variety. staying at $7/mo unlike other areas getting same package for $4/mo!
2paks going to 14 from 13, 3paks going to 21 from 16 except for variety+movie+sports info 3pak going to 18, 4paks going from 18 to 25

internet: starter going to w/no tv or phone: 28.99. w tv or phone 25.99. essential alone 39.99. with another service 37.99, preferred 53.99, ultimate goes to 94.99. NO INTERNET TIER gets a cap increase!!1

Phone: I don't have phone but it appears every service offered here is going up and the list too long to type out but i'm betting POTS out the door pricing would be cheaper.

the biggie: purchase PINS for ondemand movies and events will be deactivated on or after feb 03, 2012 so if you have kids you'll want to reset these unless you want cox bill shock[cox techs: does this mean SA boxes will finally be getting firmware updated or just to take advantage of unsupervised children?]

with the NFL season winding down and coming playoff games and superbowl OTA makes it REAL EASY to cut the cord! nice timing Cox!

this slap in the face with no speed[like other markets are getting] or cap increases.

Life is good with Centurystink NOT!

Typical. "Pay more, get less" COX style. Time to sign up for COX Business w/no caps and lock in those 3 year rates. For about $90 a month, you can cut the cord on both video an telephone and go Internet only. Or sign up for the PLG and just deal with equipment rate hikes.

After all the rate hikes and caps BS, I went COX business and dropped telephone (Talk about a fortune in taxes and BS fees for something I never used) and dropped down to 1 tier video. I pay LESS now than I did before they decided to play games with pricing and caps.

Do they want to remove home service? What it sounds like to me. I wish caps were illegal, it's just wrong.

$289 is probably for business address pricing w/extra stuff not needed. For "Home Office" business internet in AZ it's actually $99, for 25/4. Out here in the OC, we pay $89 for 25/2. Below is the AZ link. Scroll to the bottom for the "Home Office" plans. »ww2.cox.com/business/arizona/dat···cing.cox

I think that had a SLA. you'd almost have to call to see what you get for a third of the price. I don't see getting a SLA for $100/mo

Pretty sure the Home Office plans have an SLA of something like 4 hours w/truck rolls if necessary. That's what my CBS rep indicated at time of contract signing. I think that's part of the "24x7x365 support" bullet below. You should also get free Static IP as part of the plan. By design, their site seems intentionally vague, but the CBS reps will bend over backwards for your business. After explaining my reason to the CBS rep, "BS caps on the residential side", my CBS rep was all too eager to compete internally against Rez. After explaining the fact I just paid an install and modem fee on Rez about a year ago, they waived both fees on the CBS side. Normally modem and install will run about 2 bills. But, like everything, all initial setup fees are usually negotiable.

Plan Details:

"Business-class Internet for home-based businesses that don't need many features

Business Internet Premium includes:
-25 Mbps x 4 Mbps
-1 IP Address
-10 Email accounts
-25 GB Online Backup
-25 Security Suite licenses
-1 Domain Name Hosting
-PowerBoost
-24x7x365 Support
-Cable modem
Available options:
- Web Hosting"
