 | [Speed Problem] Ping times increased since December I have noticed general slowness of DSL service for a while. This includes bad quality ooma calls.
I took a look at my ping times log (I keep a script that pings google every 5 minutes), and I can see that on Dec. 2, 2011 7:30 AM, my DSL connection went down, then resumed about 30 minutes later, and after that my ping times average ~50 ms vs. the previous ~14 ms.
What is going on? Is there anything I can do? |

AT&T uses interleave mode to improve the stability of the DSL signal and the switch can happen automatically if the line suddenly becomes unstable.
Check your modem stats to see if there is a listing of fast or interleave mode.
If it is on interleave mode and you have good quality stats, the techs at AT&T Direct: » AT&T Direct can switch your line back to fast path. -- TCE Weather |

 | reply to germ65 The same thing is happening to me. I was getting awful speeds in December. After my second call, I noticed that my download speed was at a consistent 80% of the max, and that my ping jumped from around 10 locally to 50.
Have you given ATT a call? I wonder if they'll even bother to help. |
